[AMD NOOB] Can any of these cards support 5 monitors?

kir13y
Go to solution Solved by Faster_Speeding,

This list will give you an idea of the max amount of monitors supported by each amd gpu series http://support.amd.com/en-us/search/faq/151

I looked here: https://www.asus.com/Graphics-Cards/R7250X2GD5/overview/ but couldn't find anything that says how many monitors the card supports.  I know you can daisy chain with dp so I was hoping that this card would be able to support 5 monitors.

I was also wondering if the HD 7950 from MSI can support 5.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127667

Thanks

IDK know if it can technically support it but realistically; no, that card cannot support 5 1080p monitors.

The newer AMD GPU's CAN support up to 5 (even 6 monitors).

You will need to get hold of an MST Hub that does 1-DisplayPort to 3-DisplayPort, though.

Then you can connect the remaining two displays with HDMI and one of the DVI ports.

This is if you use the newer R7-250.

The Radeon HD 7950 is a slightly different story.

(this is one of the revisions done on the R9-280(X) even though they share the identical 'Tahiti XT' chip the HD 7970/7950 uses)

  • Use a MST Hub on one of the mini DisplayPort Adapters to get your three outputs.
  • Use either ONE of the HDMI or DVI port for your fourth
  • Use the second mini DisplayPort adapter for your fifth ** If you need to convert it to HDMI or DVI, you will need and ACTIVE DisplayPort Adapter **

Are you sure! The list AMD provided, linked in the post below, shows the HD 5800 series can support it, but probably through the use of hubs and whatnot as per what @-rascal- said.
