Upgrading friend's system

Heyo my friend recently is wanting to upgrade his system to something a little more powerful then what he has now

His Specs atm (quick note all prices are in CAD)

  1. FX 8320
  2. Asus m5a97 r2.0
  3. Gigabyte Windforce GTX 770 2Gb
  4. Kingston fury X 8GB
  5. random 550W power supply 
  6. seagate 1TB 2.5inch HDD

What he is looking at buying

Save up for a i5-6400 and get a namebrand PSU (they will cost the same or less) the Corsair CX 550m (with the grey label) is a good choice.

So ditch the sama for a corsair and then switch to an i5 6400 and it should be good to go?

would it actually be better to go with an i5 6500 instead, He is wondering because people are telling him the i5 6400 could bottleneck some gpus because of its clockspeed in some games.

Nobody's replying cuz you're not quoting their posts. People won't see you replied unless you do that.

 

Yes the 6500 would be a lot better, at least he'll see significant jump in performance.

Yeah, I realized that after I made the post, anyways thanks he said he will switch for the 6500 and corsair CX-M thanks for the help.
