OCZ PSus trustable?

IS OCZ PSUs trustable?

 

do they ahve good quality and wont broke so fast?

 

i am thinking about OCZ ZX series 1250 watts for dual 290xes!

 

 

is it trustable?

 

its gold rated!

ive used ocz fatality modular psu's in 3 builds with no failures. and i do remember linus saying in one of his livestreams that when he worked at ncix the rma rate on ocz psu's was real low.

It's a good unit. Considering the price is a bit higher than $200 though in the US, the EVGA SuperNova 1300 G2 would be a better deal though.

 

Make sure it's only single 12v rail

 

Provided that the OCP implementation of the multi-rail unit is setup properly like many of modern PSUs, he does not need to limit himself to just a single rail unit.

also, i had a ssd knocked back by pccasegear for warranty and OCZ taiwan honored it and sent me a replacement. big ups to them for that ,+1 ocz for that one

They have had hit and miss psu's. I'm talking about hit and miss series and not individual units.

So i saw Hardwareccunacks unbox the R9 290x and saw that it drive on full load 473 watts and if i will get 2 of them 2x 473= 946 watts!! HOLY SHIT!.they said that it eats so much when its Max loaded or something kind of that so i hope i wont get it load max

 

So i think i choose the OCZ one becuze everyone says it fine and so. Also

It's probably 473w for the system as a whole--not just the gpu.  Even the Titan only peaks at 265w. 473w for a single gpu at this time would be absurd.

The AX1200 is build better and perform better, so if it's in the same price range, I would go with that. If it's not, well, assuming that the AX cost more, try to look at other PSUs you are able to buy.

I have not seen the HWC unboxing / review; however, AFAIK, they don't have the equipment to actually measure the DC Power consumption by itself. They are measuring it from the wall, where the entire system as well as efficiency comes into play, so the power figure they had shown is higher.

They have a 5 year warranty so they should be good. Also for the love of god, why 1200W? 850W will be more than enough with a lot of headroom.

This is measured from the wall socket; power supplies are not 100% efficient. They were using a Corsair AX 1200 for the test system...which is 80PLUS Gold. 476W / 1200W is about 40% load. At 40% load, the AX1200 is about 90% efficiency (with 115V(AC) source). So...taking efficiency into account, the entire system is actually only using approximately 428W from the power supply.

 

Something like a Corsair HX850 or AX860 would be plenty for Crossfire R9-290X plus overclocking.
