1024x768 video with a 16/9 ratio

Go to solution Solved by PlayStation 2,

The video itself is being stretched one way or another. Rerender the video at 1366x768 then add subtitles after that.

Hi,

I'm currently editing a video having a 1024x768 resolution but still able to fill my 1920x1080 screen. How is that possible? Does it mean that the pixels are not square? I can confirm that the video is not stretched whatsoever because when I force my video editor to render it on a 4/3 ratio, the video is distorted.

Actually my job is to add subtitles to this video, but no matter what software I use (well I've just tried 2, ffmeg and Tencoder. Sony Vegas wasn't able to get the job done as I wanted, it just doesn't handle subtitles as well I'd like) the fonts are stretched, which is very unpleasant.

So basically I'd like you to explain me if this is due to the fact that the pixels are not square (and if so, why are there non-square pixels anyway) and let me know if there's anything I could try to overcome this issue.

Thanks

1024x768 is 4:3, if I'm not mistaken so it's close on scale but not size. I hope someone is able to help you more than I.
