Here's my ghetto HiFi setup. Pretty much everything I got used from value village or the computer recycle shop for under $10. The only exception were the headphones.

headphones: Pioneer SE-A1000's

Amp: Sony TA-AX311 (plus the cassette deck and tuner it came with which act as a fancy looking stand.)

Speakers: MCS somethings.

Soundcard: Creative X-Fi pro Fatal1ty

My setup is:

Onboard Audio -> Logitech Z-906 -> DT990 Pro

But i rarely use the DT990 Pro because i am not much of a headphone guy when listening to sound in general. I always prefer speakers to headphones. I only use headphones for my portable audio setup.

iPod 4th gen -> FiiO E11 -> DT990 Premium

Just out of curiosity, what are people using for mics? Anyone running something other than a headset?

Personally I was on a Shure KSM42 however as I'm now only using it for TS3 and Skype i've dropped it to a Shure SM58. What's yours?

Samson C01U atm. Going to upgrade to something else, though I'm still not sure what exactly.

2x Adam A5X

Presonus Audiobox VSL1818 (poor ASIO-drivers for playing VSTis)

RME Babyface

I wonder, is there or will there be an extra subforum for computer-based recording and music production?

At the moment, I'm using:

Speakers: Polk Audio RTi A1

AMP: (a vintage) Technics stereo receiver, its about 15 years old now! However soon to be upgraded to a Marantz PM6004

USB DAC: HRT Music Streamer II

Headphones: Bowers & Wilkins P5, just picked up a C5 (and am very impressed!)

After I get a new integrated amplifier, I want to upgrade my speakers to either a Kef Q300, B&W 683, or Tannoy DCT6. Still undecided there...

PC optical output>Benchmark DAC1 USB>connected with balanced XLR cables to McIntosh MA6300 Integrated amplifier>B&W 805D speakers.

I also sometimes use the Benchmark DAC1 as a headphone amplifier when listening to my Audio Technica ATH AD1000's.

I'm planning on getting a new headphone soon but I'm so confused on what to get. Had my eye on the Tesla T1 but then heard mixed opinions on it.

AKG K702 headphones

Audioengine D1 DAC

Little Dot MK II headphone amplifier

M-Audio AV30 Speakers

I'm in love with this setup. It's beyond incredible for music and awesome for gaming, detail and soundstage helps a lot. The Little Dot is great because it has preamp outputs meaning I don't have to split the connection to go out to speakers. The AV30s are great value for anyone looking for decent speakers on the cheap, and are a hell of a lot better than any regular computer speakers I've had before. They're essentially little studio monitors and being active means they hardly take up any space!

How low down do you end up? Do you manage to get your ears above the LF path?
