Hi guys so I'm gonna be upgrading my aging mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro. I have already purchased an ssd which I will be installing in it, and I will also get more ram(more ram is better, right....). I will be upgrading from 4gb to 8gb (2x4gb) ram. I most definitely WILL NOT buy the ram from the Apple Store, where it costs 200 bucks (totally overpriced) but I want to make sure the ram will be compatible. If have found the ram at the link on Amazon for only 40 bucks, and it states it is Mac compatible and also has reviews from people with the same Mac as me stating it worked. Will this ram work? Or will the timings or latency be different? Just wanna make sure.

In my experience Yosemite and El Capitan perform "not so great" on 4gb of RAM.

I recently upgraded an aging Mac Pro (2008) from 4GB to 16GB, and that alone increased performance quite a bit. Of course, we also installed an SSD after the RAM Upgrade to replace the 5400 RPM stock drive that it came with.

Crucial actually makes the RAM for most macs nowadays. That kit is exactly what apple uses for upgrades with different stickers on the RAM.

mac compatible RAM is just a way to jack the price up a bit and have it painted black, as pretty much any RAM will work.

Yeah I realized they were mostly s lot more expensive, but this one is an exception. Most of the non Mac compatible ones are around 35, and this one is too.

Yeah, it will work. I would also refuse to use such an expensive laptop without at least 8gb of ram, it's definitely a worthy investment.
