Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!

My father works all day on a shitty 4:3 TN panel.

I think it would be a great improvement for him to switch to a ultra wide monitor, it would make his work more enjoyable and also make him a lot more productive !
Here is the amazon link to the monitor I think is the best for this price range : http://www.amazon.com/AOC-Q2963PM-29-inch-IPS-Resolution/dp/B00BLZAYHC/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449889355&sr=1-3&keywords=ultrawide&refinements=p_36%3A20000-30000
And as always, thank you very much for the giveaway !

I would love to get my little brother a new monitor. He loves to do some FPS on his machine, but he's stuck in the stone age with a 19" monitor. This one from Acer would do very well for him. http://amzn.com/B00QS0AKVK The Acer G257HU even has IPS, which would solve his complaining about the narrow viewing angle of his current one!

My mom doesn't want to install a new monitor or television but I just can't let her watch shows and movies on her 18 inch monitor.

She also has a pair of beige speakers that need to be replaced ASAP.

For the monitor I chose an Asus MX279H  27 inch Monitor

For the speakers I chose a Logitech Z313 Speaker System

Thank You.

I'm looking for a gift for my mom.  She wants to set up a small home studio for her photography.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005D1OW8C?psc=1

This 3 strobe set would be fantastic for her.  She doesn't really work and wants to start doing photography for money.  Unfortunately it takes money to make money.  Until it shows some promise she is unwilling to spend this much money on photography equipment.

This strobe set is around $250 and would really help her.

You guys are awesome!

Mmm I would like to give my gf:

Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black
I cannot find the black SE of these here in NZ; we have the non SE Noctua colour scheme but my gf would hate them.
Gf gets panic attacks here and there, I'm currently on a boat working (
and will be for a few months at a time) so I can't help her besides a phone call (if I even have signal at the time).
So I think some good headphones for her to submerge herself into with her music would be a BIG help

Wish everyone a Merry Xmas, and that they're safe over the holidays ^_^

Just like many others there's one thing that I would love to get my mother for Christmas.

Amazon Echo

I'm currently in the process of bringing my mothers home into the 21st century. WiFi controlled lights, BotVac Connected, nice new TV, etc. And at the center of all that comes Alexa. Mom have a question about something simple? Ask Alexa! She has trouble getting up after shes sat down and situated, so if she leaves a light on by mistake she can just tell Alexa to turn it off. If she wants to know who plays that part in that new movie she can just ask Alexa. It would be an amazing edition to her home, and would make her Christmas one of the best.

I would want the Sony MDR-XB950BT headphones. They are priced at $128.00 here: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRXB950BT-Extra-Bluetooth-Headset/dp/B00MCHE38O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449900033&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+mdr+xb950bt

I would get them for my grandmother as she works on a farm and as a cleaner and tends to move around a lot. She enjoys listening to music as she works but doesnt want to deal with cables so she uses a crappy set of AM/FM radio headphones. She would love the Sonys as they are super comfortable and nice sounding to the average user (nice and bass heavy). I have a pair myself and sxhe has truied them and loves them. She is going to get a smartphone soon so this would be perfect.

Happy holidays to all at Linus Media Group and to all on the forum :)

I'd get a chromebook for my girlfriend. Just last week she told me that her current laptop - a 5 year old Dell - wasn't working properly and asked me to do something about it, so I spent 6 hours diagnosing it on Tuesday and finally got it "working" again (it still runs incredibly slowly) by 2am Wednesday to get back to her for a project she was working on. All the work she does is on Google Drive anyway, so I figured the limited functionality wouldn't be a big deal and the massively increased speed in comparison would be perfect for her.

Thanks for everything that you guys do, you're the main reason I got into tech myself.

I'd give an Apple TV to my Aunt's family.  They are an Apple family and that would work so well with all their devices.

I think any non techie person would want earphones. But I would want to give my brother a pair of Jaybirds X2. Because he relies on a pair of Samsung earphones as his daily driver. The dude really likes the sound of his current earphones which to my reaction the earphones plainly suck. I would want my brother to hear the big difference between these two earphones.
