Would love to gift my dad a new headphones. My dad still uses my old Siberia V2 from like 7 years ago even after the cushions completely torn off by my niece. Some really nice sounding and bloody robust headphones would be perfect for them. These DT990s 32 Ohms would be awesome.

A Frisby FS5010BT Bluetooth 5.1 home theater speaker system for my mother. She has been wanting something new, because the one she has have been messing up a lot and it is about 15 years old. It is a Sony system. I think she would appreciate the Bluetooth ability because she owns a iPhone 5c. I would also be able to hook her tv up to it so she could use it instead of that gosh awful speaker from the TV. Here is a link (Amazon) http://www.amazon.com/Frisby-FS-5010BT-Surround-Speakers-Bluetooth/dp/B00EYX1N2S, Thank you Linus Media Group for doing things like this.

I recently built a computer for my parents and they insisted on keeping the old HDD's for their data, and not buying any new drives even after saying I would transfer it. They don't game so they don't need a graphics card, but its got good components(http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DQ8QmG got the mobo for free with the microcenter price error), but is slow as hell due to the old drives, IDK what they are but they are slow AF. There is a M.2 slot on the board so I would get them this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-950-512GB-PCIe-NVMe/dp/B01639694M/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449796267&sr=1-8&keywords=750 and transfer the OS and the most used programs along with some of the most important files and hopefully it will work smoothly for a long time.

Once upon a time, there was a LinusTechTips forums user. And he had a brother. In September, that brother received a PC, but unfortunately, that PC contained a (*barfs once), a really really (*barfs twice) bad PC. A GT 730. For $300 not only would I get him a 4GB GTX 960 (http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Gaming-Graphics-GV-N960G1-GAMING-4GD/dp/B00VBNT3X0/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449797023&sr=1-3&keywords=gtx+960+4gb), But also upgrade his (*barfs thrice), 430W generic PSU, to an EVGA SuperNova 750W B1 (http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Modular-Warranty-110-B1-0750-VR/dp/B00K85X23O/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1449797105&sr=1-8&keywords=power+supply). That would make his rig superior to mine, and even look better. Oh yeah, and with the remaining $10, I would... I would, maybe I could - or if I did that, or maybe... I guess I would just let LMG keep that. Merry Christmas!

Logitech Harmony Home Control

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmony-Home-Control-Devices/dp/B00N3RFC4G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449797509&sr=8-1&keywords=harmony+companion

I would give it to my great aunt & uncle who has about 8 different home media center devices to control with one extremely frustrating universal remote (like press multiple touchscreen buttons and point it at all of the devices for 30 seconds) or 8 different remotes, my uncle is in a wheelchair so to be able to control their smart home stuff with a remote would be helpful.

$125 on Amazon

Got an Android, never going back to apple again (notice I spelled apple with a lowercase and Android with an uppercase)

Hey Guys

This is an awesome give away, and a very good idea.

What I want to give away?

I want to give away a full set of wemo lights, switches and a insight switch to them.

I am mostly going for the lights,

First because I want my family to be safe when we are arriving late at night at home, you know, moving around can be dangerous, and having lights that you can turn on remotely is very nice.

Second, I want them because I won't need to wake up or get up from bed at night, since the light switch of the stairs light is at the bottom, my grandfather or mother when they go up the stairs, has to ask someone in the first floor to turn on the lights once they are up in their bethrooms, so those lights will be really helpful.

Third because they will help reduce the electric bill of our home, which is a nice bonus to have.

Here are the links

1 starter kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XREGUVY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

2 of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGEGJ02/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

3 of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MMLTUII/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

1 of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EOEDJ9W/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AAZRLVTNON75Z

All are part of wemo, and the work with amazon echo, which would be an awesome addition in the future.

I understand that asking for everything might not be possible, so if anything the starter kit will be a great thing to have.

Thanks a lot for the nice give away guys, and keep up the nice work you do :)

My parents would tremendously benefit from having a central PC for email, light web browsing, and most importantly, organizing their digital lives.

My mom is a calendar and note-taking machine when she isn't cooking or doing household stuff, and my dad loves his iPhone, but barely knows how to internet.

The problem they face most is never being given enough time to learn all the different ways to organize their life on our Family PC because my brother has kind of taken it over.

By the time I teach them something, they haven't had a chance to put it to use, and so they forget it.

I think they could learn and retain ChromeOS better than Windows or OSX, hence my idea of the Kitchen Chromebox PC.

Ideally, my solution would be an ASUS Chromebox and monitor setup in our kitchen.

(I'll take care of the monitor/TV/keyboard/mouse if I win this giveaway.)

I'd actually take it a step further and post another build log on the forums as the location for this system will be custom built in some way.

We have a corner cabinet with embedded shelf just barely big enough for a 20" monitor, so I'll be hiding everything and custom mounting the monitor.

Or we could just say screw it and mount my 32" Bedroom TV on the kitchen wall as I don't use it much anyways.

My family has been wanting a home stereo for a while. My mom mostly uses my sister's little $20 speaker to play music, and it sounds terrible. I've been on the lookout for a old receiver at the local thrift store, but to no avail. I have seen some nice bookshelf speakers, but I just need a way to power them. This amplifier seems perfect - good reviews, and no frills (no need for radio etc.). Anyway, thanks for the giveaway, LMG. Fat chance of winning, but worth a shot. :)

http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-alpha/pd?ref=PD_OC

They currently have $250 off their base model.

Makes for a grand total for $305 (I know I know $5 over the $300).... free shipping though......

I want this for mom and dad...

Here is the story....

When I was young just like Linus they instilled in me a great love for technology.

My grandfather is an electrician, and my father grew up fixing TVs and other gadgets.

He always tried to teach me the importance of engineering and the way technological advancements brought benefits to us in direct and indirect ways.

Circuits where often a discussion at the diner table.

Growing up we always had a PC at home which I used for intense gaming and educational purposes

Internet was always a must at home, and thanks to my parents encouragement to be frugal, I started learning to build PCs and became very involved in the PC building and gaming community.

Three of my best friends I met online and have been gaming with for over a decade. We are all like brothers. Who where brought together by long summer nights filled with Bawls and CAL-M COD:UO rifles only matches, and CS 1.6 binges, Warcraft 3 custom games, Dota, etc..etc........... hahaha the good old days... No bills...... just gaming..... and moms cooking........ I can't thank them enough for those moments... They allowed me to be a care free. True happiness is gaming with your friends all night, and not knowing what bills are.

But just like Linus' parents they became completely disconnected from computers and technology in general.

I am just now teaching them to master simple stuff like Chromecast streaming to their old 720p television......sigh............

Any way..... recently my mom has been showing an interest towards getting back on a computer.

She sees the possibilities that the internet provides and I can tell she wants to be part of it.

I feel that this base model prebuilt (i would never consider a prebuilt as they are never a good value, but this discount is pretty massive and it would include a warranty, unlike something I could build them for $300..... no way it would be as good..... lets be real.) These base models also claim to have some gaming power which would allow me and dad (and hopefully mom) to start playing a few games together online... And maybe some CO OP stuff like spelunky when ever I am hanging out with them.....

To make a long story short.

This present would be going to two very special and kind people who deserve a chance to get back into the game.

Its time they start enjoying what the tech world has to offer, and a PC is the perfect portal.

Thanks Linus and Crew.

Long time youtube follower, you guys have helped me decide many many things.
And brought hours and entertainment into my life.
Love you guys, and I am happy to see you are all moved in to your new office.

Well deserved!!!!

Keep on growing!!!!!!!!

Edit: I have an older 24 inch 1080p LCD i would donate to them, along with my old razer peripherals and a second xbox360 controller I dont need since my girlfriend and I split..... ;)

I really want to get my mom a Fire HD 10. She reads books from kindle like no one's business and a tablet upgrade would be awesome.

My dad is into remote controlled helicopters and mini quads. I think he'd enjoy a newer one. Especially one with what looks like decent bumpers... haha

I'd absolutely love to get my mother a Kindle Paperwhite. She taught me my love of reading from a young age and I'd be able to easily pre-load her device with loads of books that she'd like and easily send new books straight to her device as presents on the future.

Hello,

I would love to get my grandma a new laptop, as I always see her lugging around her bulky, 4 inch thick laptop from at least 10 years ago

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I3DOZEI/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i2_r?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=14H46EDZVXTB379GJJZ5&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2091268722&pf_rd_i=desktop

This would be perfect as it would allow for her to get a bigger screen, allow her to get an upgrade from windows vista (geeze that thing's old...), and allow for a more thin, lightweight experience. Also she could watch videos now, as her computer doesn't even have working speakers so she always plugs in her headphones.

Thank you Linus :D

I would get this sound bar for my mom

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C6OSZKK/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?qid=1449798624&sr=8-4&keywords=Bowers+and+wilkins+bluetooth&dpPl=1&dpID=510B7rJqjcL&ref=plSrch

She loves her music but would never spend money on a good speaker. Plus it should be simple enough for her to use. Watching her use the all in one surround system/blu ray my sister got her was quite painful at times.

I need to get my mum a pair of Jaybird X2's because she has recently acquired Apple Music and is streaming her music through her phone speakers and as a sound technician it sounds absolutely horrible. These headphones would solve the problem as she is always complaining that she hates wires and refuse to use wired headphones

I would buy my father a good working home theater system for his livingroom, because he always complains about the crappy soundquality of his 2 years old (?) flatscreen.
He loves to watch some good movies there but with sound that can't bring the emotions, feelings and all that to the watching person... what is the sence then in watching movies?
We want to be entertained, see the action, feel the action, hear the action...
But since we can't really feel the action it has to be our imagination to complete this and bad soundquality can ruin that.
So my gift for would be a Sony Soundbar with wireless subwoofer (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IWQREE4?*Version*=1&*entries*=0)

And yeah, a really good idea to make a giveaway like that. Keep up the great work you do guys. :D
