Good Comby? And maybe some help..

Hello all!

I've got a new pc, my nephew build it for me. Its fast and all, but not to get tough on this, i really want to know what you guys think.

i5 4670k running on stock

Gtx 970 oc mode

msi z87-g45

16 gb ram 1600 Mhz

windows 8.1 pro

And in dxdiag when i go to display option, it shows 12 gigabyte of Vram, i dont know what the fuck dxdiag was eating but i think its been poisoned lol. Can anyone explain that.  :)

And if somebody has the same comby or something like this. Can you help me with overclocking. I dont know how to overclock nd stuff..

Thanks!

It could be the program is not picking up all of the memory, first check in the bios to make sure that all 16gb show up there. Then check windows to see how much it says is usable.

If it says you only have 12gb in bios, check the ram and make sure that all of the sticks are properly pushed into the board.

If all of the above is done and the program you are using still says 12gb, try using a different piece of software like CPU-z (I believe that should have memory amount).

The first step to insanity is believing in your sanity.

Aaah, shit. I can't read.

That doesn't make sense...

Some of the steps still stand however, try using a different program. maybe install MSI afterburner or GPU-z and see what is going on.

Dxdiag have been known to give incorrect readings -- it has been known to be like this since Windows...XP.

What can you expect from Microsoft?

Use a separate program, like GPU-Z, to properly check. It should show the correct VRAM amount for your GTX 970 -- 4GB (4096MB).
