Asus ZenFone 2.

gonvres

What do you guys think?

Linus made a video from CES. Looks unbelievably good for $200. I've long wondered when smart phones will get that aggressive shove in price, but it looks like it has finally happened here.

The one thing I find strange is that Asus' model designations are practically impossible to differentiate. So is this 'lower' than the Zenfone 5 despite having superior specs? Regardless, looks like a solid product.

Is 4gb of ram needed? If so, for what?

As long as it doesn't have any major problems I will probably replace my Moto G with it. I'll just be glad that I won't have to recommend the 1+1 anymore, since this is a better phone at a lower price.

As far as I understand, there is a 720P model which will be under $199.

The 1080P/2gb model will be $199 then the 4gb model will be over $199.

Depends if the price difference is actually less then or equal to the cost of a 32GB MicroSD card

I was surprised this has been the first thread about it. I want to wait to see specs of the CPU before I start recommending it. Qualcomm is killing it in the mobile CPU game, and I do not know if even Intel can keep up. I will probably start recommending it over the One Plus One until the One Plus Two comes out, since from what I have found the Z3580 is better than the Snapdragon 801, but not the new 810.

I hope that's right but I tried to look for it on the internet and there are only 2 official models that I found so far

ZE550ML = 2GB/720p

ZE551ML = 4GB/1080p

http://www.yugatech.com/mobile/asus-zenfone-2-ze550ml-vs-ze550ml/ this page has a comparison between the two models

Still trying to look for the official 2GB/1080p variant, still vague since the 2GB and 4GB variants are on the same name(ZE551ML) from various articles over the internet. This is confusing... Or probably I didn't understand it well lol, the discrepancies on sites/reviews is real D: someone enlighten us about this $199 model D:

I'm really interested in the zenfone 2, especially if the 4GB model is below £200, then I'll probably even get it to replace my HTC 8S.
