New to mechanical keyboards, which one?

ShuanW50

Hey all!

So I will be getting a new mouse and keyboard soon but unsure which to get as there is so many, everybody talking about these mechanical

keyboards which I believe each type of switch have a different mechanical to it. Question is which one?

So I type fast, and have heavy hands kind of, if any of you watch Linus videos my hands are like slicks as he puts it (Baseball hands).

So I'm hoping you can help me, my price range is anything so any keyboard doesn't matter about price.

If you have any recommended mouse as well it will be great help!

A budget is quite important when it comes to mechanical keyboards.

EDIT: I should of read the post better.

I would suggest staying away from MX Reds if you type a lot. I have a K90 (MX Reds) and a Filco Majestouch-2 (MX Blues) and I haven't noticed my game play becoming any worse.

If you have heavy hands I would recommend either Cherry MX blues or greens since those are the heaviest to press. But I would always recommend you to try out as many different switches as possible, since everyone seems to have their own personal take.

Also I don't have a budget, like really. Like I won't pay like $800 for a keyboard lol but just not a budget.

Well, if you are gaming a lot i would go with a brown one. really love mine and its not bad to write with. (but not as good as blue obviously)

Get ducky if you want cherry switches, make sure it's a "pbt" model (it's the good keycaps).

Go to a store and try switches too see which one fits you, ducky provides all the common switches.

So I've looked at that article and I think it's between MX Greens, brown, red or blue. Unsure which though.

I highly recommend going out and trying some mechanical keyboards either from friends or a store. Sticks with whatever switches you like. You can then pick according to functionality and looks.

Mechanical keyboards are awesome. I have a G710+ and I love it but not everyone likes mechanical keyboards.

Do your best to try out all the keys before you buy. If you just gamble on one people recommends and it's not what you like...

So I've decided to go with the

It has good reviews, good brand. They're Cherry MX Blues so you get the good feedback. Was it a good pick and good switch (blues)?

Bad choice, bad brand. You're wasting your money if you buy that. Get a Ducky Shine 2 if you want LEDs.

If you have heavy hands, MX Blacks or MX Greens would be best since they are the stiffest (easily accessible) switch, maybe even an old BS Model M. All this hubbub about Corsair and Cooler Master is over hyped, there are many brands with better more high quality products. One of my favorites would be WASD keyboards, because of the custom layouts. You can pick between MX Blues, Reds, Browns, and Blacks along with the layout (ISO, ANSI) and keycaps.http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/wasd-v1-custom-keyboard.html

If you want a tactile switch likes blues then I would recommend greens, but these aren't easy to find. The only keyboards I know of using greens is this QFR http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Mechanical/dp/B00C2MBG2U

If you don't like these switches you can refer to this link to learn about other switches and what users have rated them https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/mechanical_switches.php

Why?

Because I have £150 Amazon gift credit which can only be spent on products sold by Amazon.

If only that keyboard is available on Amazon UK with green switches.
