CSGO and others terrible fps, cpu bottleneck?

most of the time even when i start up my pc fresh and play a game (csgo/BO2) i get stupidly low fps and frequent 0fps stutter drops . clean/cleanHD everything every week.

AMD 975BE
8gb 1866mhz
650psu
GTX 770

1080p, shading high everything else low or disabled. tbh doesn't matter either setting i seem to get same result.

cpu temp about 40 gpu too. gpu load 10-15% cpu load 30-50%. and tried cranking up my fan speeds and to no differ

Avg: 77.895 - Min: 0 - Max: 227 5 mins of 26 man DM as you can see thats not normal

im looking at getting another 770 and assus rog monitor but yeah im struggling atm let alone to hit 144fps lol.
ive heard CSGO can be more cpu intensive then gpu ratio? and is really the 975be just pretty crap 3.6  4 core and compared to current cheap amd 3.4  6 core would be better? phenoms 2 architecture still good? its hard to find these sort of benchmarks online :/

yeah you should upgrade that cpu. An i5 would be pretty good but on the AMD side probably an FX6300

I have had a similar problem recently. It was a bad OS install. might be that. I don't know jack about AMD CPUs, so @FloRolf might just be right :P

I never had any problem with CSGO before, even with an AMD 6000+ at 2.23 Ghz. But I heard that some updates gives low FPS. Anyway, I found the solution, to buy a 3000$ new PC gaming. That handled lots of issues I had with low FPS gaming.

Your other components are fine and valid. So $300 for new mobo and cpu is nice little upgrade.

I would guess it's your HDD failing. Check event viewer to see if there are any errors that pop up. Brief freezes and stutter are indicators that the HDD is nearing the end of its life.

The CPU is a little dated but wouldn't be responsible for 0 FPS freezes and stutter across multiple games. It's also more than capable of running CS:GO without stutter.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Try other games and see if you encounter any of the same issues.
Its kinda hard to tell exactly what the problem could be at this time.

  • 4 years later...

I have an intel core i3 540 oc'd to 3.69 ghz, paired with an rx 550 with 4gigs of ddr5 vram. I also have a sufficient 8 gigs of memory, an ssd but the fps does not go above 60 and keeps hovering in the 55-60 mark. May I know what's up with this?
