Big 1440p or 3x 1080p (>24")

Hello everyone, I am at the point where I am looking into monitor upgrades. My main issue at the moment is whether to go ahead with 3 1080p monitors that are around the 23 inch area or get one 1440p monitor around the 28-29" area. what are your thoughts ?

Current monitor: Asus VE278H wide 2ms D-sub HDMI speaker.

Current GPU: 1x gtx 680 4Gb (planning on upgrading to gtx 880 or sli 680)

I'd go for 1440p (or even 4k if you have the budget), then you could always add more monitors in the future.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Triple monitors is way cooler to game on. Also for desktop usage, you have more screen space and because each monitor is lower res, programs won't scale text weirdly

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

You'll need a better GPU to be able to play at 1440p/3x 1080p with decent framerate and settings though. :P

Depends what you'll use it for.

I'd go with 3x1080p for more working space + seeing more shit in games is better than seeing clearer shit.

Here's my experience with Three 1440p Monitors

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/190574-shall-i-stay-with-3-screens-or-change-to-ultrawide/

Bottom line: Get the BEST single Monitor your budget allows .. If the width of normal monitors is not enough then you can consider Ultrawide standard ..

3 Monitors is cool .. but very few games support it properly .. if you happen to be a single-game man .. and that game happens to be OK with three monitors .. then it's worth it .. Otherwise, if you play many games, you'll end up running most of the games in the center screen and looking at two dead-investments switched off while gaming :(

Everyone recommends 1 1440 monitor but what about the width? 3 normal monitors give you that surround feeling. Plus, after going dual, a single monitor seems imposssible to live with

I would do the 3x1080 if you really like online fps's or really enjoy all the workspace. 1440 for betting single player or less intense online gaming. Some sort of gpu upgrade would still need to happen like stated above.

I prefer a single larger monitor myself, just plain simpler to work with. Kinda though more people would be recommending multiple monitors though.

I had 3 1080p 144hz monitors with my 780 SLI setup for like almost a year.

It's nice and all, but 5760x1080 in games isn't actually 57680x1080 in some games.  It only renders the screen in the middle, and then half of both side monitors, then stretches the image across all three.

I switched to 1440p awhile back, and have been more than happy with it. The PB278Q is a wonderful monitor IMO.

Here's a video that jayztwocents made awhile back, I had the same experience and it was annoying as hell.
