1600x900 vs 1920x1080 budget war

Monchi

i am in a deep pickle, my AOC 917Vw is dying of LINE DEAD PIXEL DISEASE! gasp. Fixed it by moving the screen around but after 2 months it gotten worst so now i have the money to buy a BUDGET monitor.

but the weight of my purchased are based on these facts.

in my country a 1600x900 monitor cost around 80$ but only in VGA

while a 1920x1080 monitor cost around 160$

what do i do oh guru of computer wisdom? @_@

should i buy the 1600x900 monitor and wait for the 1080p monitors to come down? @w@a

should i keep punching my dying monitor till it fixed or black out? @w@

Take a hammer to your monitor. Go for the 1600x900 until you can get a nice 1080p monitor. It should work well enough for the time being.

It depends on your income. It sounds like 180$ is a lot of money for you, so i'd go with a 1600x900

Out of those three I'd go with Acer. I've got an Acer P225HQL, 1080p, LED, got it like 4 years ago, it was very cheap (those were the times when LED monitors were extremely expensive) and it's running perfectly now!

Depending on your GPU, a 1600x900 monitor might actually improve gaming performance, without you having to lower the resolution past the native. But if you have a GTX 770/ R9 280x or above, it's not going to be a big deal.

On a 650? Wow!

I guess it's not a big deal, then. What happens if you play this games at 1600x900, or 1080p? (I assume your current monitor is 1080p)

I would say you should go with 1080p. It's really nice, and you don't necissarily have to change the resolution of your games. You might though, since my 1080p monitor doesn't support 1440x900, however it does support 1600x900 (my grandma's is the other way around). And even then, I have to run mine at 1024x768 (weak computer) and it doesn't look that bad.
