Hello i am going to reinstall "windows7 home premium OA" on a laptop and have the license but no installation CD, i have some blank dvd-R's if any know of legit W7homepremiumOA, if not how would i go about doing this ?

You can get an ISO from Microsoft and use your key.

It's not even illegal to torrent software and enter your own lisence.

But it is against the forum CoC to talk about or suggest pirating software

Best place to find Official windows .ISOs is the Microsoft Digital River site. Unfortunately, you cannot directly access the site anymore, but a number of places link directly to the ISO. Googling "Windows 7 ISO digital river", yields a number of sites that point to the link http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59465.iso.

 

You can manually burn the contents of the ISO to a DVD or copy them to a bootable USB, however if you are not sure how to do that you can use the Official Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool here: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool#installation. Just point it to the ISO you downloaded and it will do the rest.

It might not be pirating in the traditional swashbuckling sense of cracking windows and making it free for all but it is still distributing copyright material while you won't be running it illegally the act of downloading it is not really kosher and is a bit grey.

 

Seeing as Microsoft do have iso downloads it is best to download them from MS you get a clean download so not dodgy stuff and you are 100% legal with no grey area.

Any cases on Canada specifically penalizing just for transferring, not for viewing or saving or duplicating but merely transferring? Look I think this is moot Linus it's just going to eventually wake up, see this thread and go "Nope, my house, my rules" and lock the thread. Regardless, merely transferring cannot be illegal, this are not physical goods that can be assesses without error and henceforth declare as "stolen". Digital information that person A) legally backed up under his fair use rights can be shared with somebody who also has a separate but equally valid license to the exact same product since due to the nature of digital goods, duplication is inconsequential since Microsoft themselves sell you a license and not a good.

Borrow a friends win 7 cd make an iso remove ie.cfg from iso then burn. Now u have a universal installer for every thing but ultimate.
