Need Help FIrst PC since 2012!

Looking to build a new PC for Audio workloads and also for Gaming. 
Looking to get some help with a solid spec sheet or build part guide. 
I know my way around computer stuff but when it comes to mking sure everything runs together without bottlenecks i am lost! 

 

Budget (including currency): $1500 CAD

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Audio Editing and Gaming

 

OLD PC DETAILS

CPU: INTEL CORE I5-4460 3.20GHZ

GPU: AMD R9 280X

MBO: GIGABYTE H81M-S2PV

RAM; 8GB DDR3

120 GB SSD AND 2TB HDD

I'd do something like this:

But, wait for Black Friday. You should be able to save at least a couple hundred dollars on your components, and the new graphics cards will be out then.

If you buy a GPU now, you're tossing a ton of performance down the drain, or massively overpaying.

I don't know if your audio stuff requires more RAM, or can get away with fewer cores; the 3600 is also worth looking at.

+1 throw in a used 1070/1070S/2060/2060S/2070/2070 as they pop up on the market as a temporary card, since they'll be able to be resold for near what you paid for when you upgrade to 3000 series.

It's better than buying something that's already been vastly surpassed.

A used 580, 1070, etc would be relatively low cost and flipped back into the market with relative ease and little or no loss.

You need to quote or tag people in order for them to know you've replied

Both AMD and Nvidia are in the process of releasing new cards. Ideally you'd be aiming for a 3060, or with a stretch of the budget, 3070.

These cards won't be available for a while, likely you'll have to wait a few weeks to a couple months from your time of purchase (or less if you do it properly and wait for Black Friday). It makes more sense to buy a card to use while you wait for the new ones to become available.

Yes, because 3000 series is RIGHT around the corner, it'll be better to get a used 2000 series card that you can resell once 3000 series becomes readily available.

Yessir. Don't get a 2000 series card though. You'll pay too much, and take a massive loss on it.

Don't.

You'll lose a ton of money buying a 20 series card. Just get something like an RX580. They should be relatively cheap, and when you go to sell it you won't lose much.

The 20 series cards will be significantly more expensive than a 580 or 1070. The new cards might be available by Black Friday, but you're probably going to see wide availability in December.

Price. I didn't look that hard, it's mostly a rough guideline.
