The B450 Tomahawk Max is a really solid choice.

The deal breaker for me on this motherboard is its lack of more than 4 usb 3 ports, at the moment I have chosen the Asrock b550 pro4m and it has 5 usb 3 2 of which are 3.1 gen 2.

What are the benefits of choosing this MSI board?

Better VRM. It's pretty much the same as on the B450 Tomahawk and Gaming Pro Carbon.

The Pro4 isn't great in that department, but unless you plan on overclocking a 3900X/3950X, it'll work.

Yeh as I said in the OP, im planning on using a 3600 I may overclock, but as it's my first build and first gaming rig, I plan on sticking to stock for the first few months

Well the pro vdh does have better vrm, but if you need the features of the pro4, it'll work, it can easily handle a 3600 with/without an overclock.
