Straight sata cable for ssd at back of case?

Hi guys, my sata power cables connect from my power supply (corsair rm550x) via a 6 pin type 4 cable to my SSDs.  However my power supply only included long cables with angled power connectors (picture attached, I don't know what this type of connector is called aside from just sata power?).  

 

Since my SSDs are at the back of my case, it would be easier to connect them with power with simpy straight sata cables straight from my power supply instead of the long ones with several connectors that are angled.  Apologies but my googling skills seem to suck and I can't find exactly what I need.  Do you have any suggestions for this type of setup?

That connection is indeed called "SATA Power". The connection on your power supply is known by Corsair as "Type 3": https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/psu-cable-compatibility

I couldn't find any "single SATA Power" cables unfortunately though.

 

It might be possible to order a cable from a custom PSU cable company (like CableMod), but I am not familiar with that process.

It's also perhaps possible to install the SSD in the (currently in the picture removed) HDD cage, and just point the connector backwards so the cable can be sort of out of your way/sight.

You can buy molex to sata adapter cables : https://www.amazon.ca/Sabrent-Connection-Splitter-Cables-CB-SDSP/dp/B016JHK9TE/

The above converts one molex connector from your power supply into 2 straight sata power connectors, which you could plug in your SSDs.

 

You can buy higher quality single molex-sata adapter cables from here: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/molex/0887511310/WM10788-ND/3469178

They're 1.6$ each, but you'll probably pay around 5-10$ shipping.

They're better quality because the wires are crimped (wires are pressed inside metal pins which then go in the plastic housing) inside the sata connector, which makes it a better sata connector, compared to the other ones which are molded (wires are spot welded or soldered to some metal tabs and them plastic is injection molded over the shape to make the sata connector which is bad because if the connector overheats the metal tabs inside can become loose or you have bad connection.

You plug the sata power connector coming from the power supply into the middle connector (in the picture) and you have 2 sata connectors which can go into ssds.

These are SATA Power extension cables - you literally just plug it into one of the SATA Power cables from your PSU. The side with the exposed contacts (left side in the first product photo).

 

The right side goes into the SSD.

 

Unless you get a third party custom made cable, you're simply not going to find something that plugs into the 6-pin modular slot on the PSU itself. Just buy that, plug it into your existing SATA Power cable, and call it a day.

Not sure if OP is mainly looking for a way to utilize the 'inbetween' cable (with the bend) or the plethora of cable length; but only one of the two would be adressed with extensions.

So they could be viable, depending on the exact problem.

One end goes on the cable from your PSU (the end that fits into your SSD normally), the other end can now plug in the SSD itself.

The extension means you can plug in any of the connectors on the PSU cable into your SSD, without dealing with those 'inbetween' cables that are a bother in cases where the SSD's are mounted flush on the panel.

 

Of course this does mean you're adding some extra lengths of cable, which means there is more cables to manage though.

Well the OP has precisely 2 options, as I see it, depending on whether they just need something that works, or they want something that works and looks good:

1. Just get the extensions that I and others have listed. They come with flat SATA power cable ports, so they'll fit nicely in his orientation. Excess cable is annoying but can be ziptied easily out of the way.

2. If they want something that is "just the right length" *and* plugs directly into their modular PSU, they should shoot CableMod a message and get a custom cable made (or they might even have something in stock that works).

 

Option #2 will be more expensive and take longer, but will be nicer looking and with easier cable management. Option #1 is easy and inexpensive and quick.
