CV450 bronze: should I use it?

15 minutes ago, NiftyBoxx said:

As the title says I'm wondering if it is ok for my build to be using this PSU considering it is not even a cx. I'm running an i5 6500 with a RX 570 4 gb, 2 tb hdd and 240 ssd.

eh, sure it'll run. Don't try flashing a 580 bios, or removing power limits though. This PSU certainly isn't the best, but it's not a bomb either. It'll do just fine

Your rig is fairly low power draw, this will work no problem.

It is but human, to err, to buy a PSU, akin to dirt,

but fret not, young Padawan, for we will tell you,

what will become, of that, which you have earned

It's decent, but the CV650 is better and almost always the same price. You don't need the extra wattage, but the 650 has better protections and I believe a longer warranty. You may even be able to get away with doing shit like flashing a 580 BIOS

yes, that's true. the 650 is on another platform. However, this CV450 is adequate for his needs, currently

Wow ok thanks for the response! Now I have another question, is this psu better then both the CV450 and the 650? Does it have better protection?

No. Get the CV650. It's $8 more than this piece of shit and way better

That is a fire hazard. EVGA W1 and N1 are utter garbage.

As for the CV, it's for office PC and low power home PCs so don't overclock anything and don't remove power limits.

They're the same price. Why would he NOT get the 650. It also gives him the option to flash his 570 to a 580 and remove power limits for overclocking, which will boost the fuck out of the performance.

Pretty stupid to say 'oh the better one is the same price, but he doesn't need that power, so get the worse one. For the same price'.

I'm pretty sure that he already has the unit.

if he doesn't, he should just move up to TXm/CX units, without bothering about CV

I just saw what he posted above. Please, leave all of these and get a CX unit
