Help switching between speakers and headphones

Hello, I just bought some speakers and I'm running into a problem where I have to physically disconnect my headphones if I want to use said speakers. My audio drivers are up to date and my motherboard is an AsRock B450M PRO4.

Basically I'm not getting the "option" to switch outputs in the volume settings in windows, since it detects both the speakers and headphones as speakers.

Actually, the blue port doesn't seem to work with anything, only the green port

Sounds like this person has the same issue and someone solved it it seems like https://forums.tomsguide.com/threads/how-to-separate-speakers-from-headphones.335650/

You can't just plug it into random ports in the back.

Blue = Line In (e.g. audio signal going INTO the motherboard)

Are you using analog Green Line Out, for your headphones?

What about your speakers?

Are you speakers also using a the Green Line Out, or USB of some sort?

Oh, my mobo only has the top 3, now I have my headphones connected into the front panel audio but it sounds like shit, and the speakers are connected into the green port on the actual mobo, but the option to switch output isnt here

according to google there should be a small drop down menu with all my connected devices... but now that I see it, could it be because of windows?

updated my drivers with that version specifically and it uninstalled the old ones, mkay no problem, then restarted and I had the arrow and it was working perfectly, discerning between my headphones and speakers, but it asked for another restart and now it thinks I only have the speakers and the arrow is no longer there.

Could it be because the speakers are old as fuck? I'm talking beige plastic old

It shouldn't matter if the speakers are old or new.

They are analog, so doesn't require drivers.

The computer would just see it as regular a$$ speakers plugged in.

Disconnect your the headphone + mic connect the the front, and reconnect them.

Your screenshot is from the RealTek App.

I basically have everything the same as you...

As I said, it detects both my headphones and speakers as one, even when my headphones are on the front panel. Also they're 2 in 1, does that matter?

I only have a USB mic, dont know why is detects that I have another one. image.png.9c20521e79a560823cfa91d4e1619a73.png

Blue port is for 5.1 system....if you have 2.1 system you connect it to green jack, same for headphones too.

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

Thanks for understanding.

Speakers are connected to the mobo I/O on the green port. The headphones are connected to my front panel jack and now sound like shit. Updated my drivers and now they both work at the same time. I have to manually turn off my speakers.

I'll have to look into this a bit, and test with my set-up...see if I can re-create your problem.

The green port on the back of the motherboard, and the jack on the front of the case *ARE* linked together in a way.

They are both essentially the same green port coming from the Realtek audio chip.

Usually, one is enabled, and the other is disabled...why both are going at the same time is weird...

Do you still get the arrow with the drop-down menu to select which output / speaker / headphone?

EDIT:

Looked around online, there are ways to ENABLE BOTH at the same time...and it looks like that is what happened in your case.

Your headphones should come up as another device on the Playback menu...for some reason it is missing...

In Control Panel > Playback right-click and make sure there is a check mark on Show Disabled Devices.

Does your headphones appear?

You want your speakers to be Set as Default Device.

Your headphones to be Set a Default Communication Device.

image.png.f28907d4fdefda8980e9b488b5a32501.png

Under RecordingStereo Mix is Disabled so that's good.

Your USB microphone is set as the Default Device, so that's also good.

Also the arrow has dissapeared since the second reboot after driver update. Maybe driver got broken when installing?
