CSM what does it mean? ASUS H370-PLUS

I'm considering buying an Asus H370-Plus but no hw1 I see two version of the same mobo, H370-Plus and H370-PlusCSM, that's 20 € more , I don't get the difference, I remember that CSM is something related to Bios, am I right?

Compatibility Support Module (CSM) its used to emulate BIOS in UEFI. This will cause the OS to format the drive with MBR . only use if you have older OS (doesnt support GPT partitions) or devices that requires you turning on the feature. 

 

intel will be phasing support for CSM this year. its really only a legacy feature.

oh, ok, so basically is important only if i don't want to install win from Uefi bootable usb right?

this website has a good article on the only reasons that makes sense to enable CSM

it should not be enabled unless you have a valid reason.

ie older hardware or an operating system that doesnt support gpt partitions.

 

you can still boot from dvd drive to install the OS, you do not need a usb drive with CSM disabled.

just keep it disabled unless you need it, in the majority cases you wont
