Upgrading my current system, newbie here

Joyfull

Hi I'm looking to upgrade my system as it's pretty outdated and one of the ram slots on my current mobo has stopped working, looking at budget of around £700, this will be for gaming mainly, I also 3d print but if it can game well it should handle all the 3d printing stuff well.

Here is what I have in my current system:

AMD FX-6300 six core 3.5THe

Nvidia GeForce BY 1030

Corsair 4GB ddr3 x2

400w corsair power supply

1TB hard drive

Don't know what the case is, was just the cheapest one from cyberpower  pc, when I originally got the machine

Here is what I'm looking at getting :

AMD Ryzen 3 3200G Processor (4C/4T, 6MB cache, 4.0GHz Max Boost) with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07STGHZK8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=AFXON1SGSPLH4&psc=1

Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT Gaming OC 8G

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07WHZQKNJ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX Motherboard

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07VB2BG3X/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=AUWMZRMCN1SVB&psc=1

Corsair VS550 550 W Active PFC 80 PLUS

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078XXNC3J/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

I am also thinking of getting some M2 storage, but can't decide which would be right, please let me know if this will work or if you can think of any better choices I can make, thankyou

What is your budget? What country do you live in? I would try replacing the CPU with a Ryzen 5 1600 AF. It is $85 in the US.

My PC : Ryzen 7 3800X | ROG Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi | Trident Z RGB 32 GB DDR4-3600 | Aorus RTX 2080 SUPER | NZXT H710 | MP600 2 TB, 970 EVO Plus 2 TB, WD Black 4 TB HDD | SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 750W | NZXT KRAKEN X72 + a bunch of corsair ql rgb fans

Peripherals : G Pro Wireless, G513 Carbon (Linear), Corsair Virtuoso RGB SE , LG 38GL950G-B

I think your choice for the processor is kinda not good.. You can go Ryzen 5 or something... Other item choices are good ... You can go for a SSD as it gives both good boot times and gaming is better on a SSD rather than on a HDD.

you can probably reuse the case as well, yeah. for the £40 you save on a new case you can get a crucial p1 1TB ssd instead of the wd blue

Your Mother board is supported for M.2 Boost... which gives you extra speeds on your M.2 SSD... So probably like a WD M.2 Nvme SSD would do.

I'll link a SSD

That SSD doesn't have a dram cache, so I'd advise to stick with boggy's suggestion and get the Crucial P1, maybe even upgrade to 1TB if you can save money by reusing the case.

Edit: It's a good SSD, don't get me wrong - if he can afford the P1 though, I'd go with that.

That's rather expensive. If I'm not missing something crucial here, you can get a 5700XT for that money. Click for Amazon listing

just realised this isnt the 5700 xt, would you still suggest going for it, or would you go for the XT

Yeah, he linked a 5700, but it's also $60 cheaper. I don't know if it's a reference PCB design or not, but you might be able to flash the 5700XT bios onto it to. If you don't want to gamble on that or go through the hassle (and can afford it), I'd get a 5700XT. Either the one I linked or a Gigabyte 3-fan model, which is about ~$20-30 extra.

Edit: @boggy77's build is great and you'll be happy with it. Enjoy!

Out of those two I would take the PowerColor Red Dragon. Or the XFX Thicc III Ultra
