If I get a Tmobile phone do I need get a plan?

I was thinking about getting a second android phone, I am an iphone user, so I can develop apps for andriod and test them. I am thinking about getting a oneplus 7 pro on swappa. It is significantly cheaper to get it from T-Mobile. I do not plan on getting a cellular plan for the phone. If I get the phone can I just not get a plan? Thanks!

That would be you best bet. I do know that T-Mobile will allow to buy phones without adding a plan but I would say buy used or find another venue.

You must sign a contract with T-Mobile, unless you buy it out but most carriers make you pay full price. Most contracts are 24 months.

When you get phones for $0 it is because you are paying for that phone through the duration of the 2 year contract you sign. You can't get a phone for less and then not pay for it. But you can use unlocked phones without contracts, you just can only access the internet via Wi-Fi, and you cannot make calls.

On swappa there is a used one from tmobile for like $370

If it is used that is different, the original owner is responsible for the contract they signed, so they either will continue to pay monthly or they bought/are buying out their contract.  @tnings

You're absolutely fine, yes you can buy the TMobile phone.

You might come across the following though:

• Slower than unlocked updates to the OS
• Different band support
• There might be preinstalled apps that may or may not be deleted

If you literally just need the phone, the above might not even matter to you.

Swappa is a used phone sales site.

No, you don't. You can use a TMobile phone without a TMobile contract.  He's not buying from the store.

I have T-mobile @dizmo is correct. T-Mobile no longer does contracts, they were the first mobile company to drop them.
