This motherboard doesn't have PCI-E slots....

Only PCI-X...

So you can't put a graphics card there.

No, that  server is a Poweredge 2900 (not a 2600), it has 1 PCIX and 4 PCIE (1 is 8x and 3 are 4x), it's clearly written in the picutres the OP posted.

Either way, it's true that a GPU won't fit in any slot unless the end of one of the PCIE slot is "removed" ...  (they are all 8x lenght)

Ummm...not sure if you can get an adapter card that allows you to insert a x16 card into the adapter and the adapter slips into the x8 slot?  Is there such a thing?  My HP DL380 gen7 has riser cards, but me thinks they plug directly into x16 slots...

@NuKleZz

The only GPUs you could fit in there without modding are bottom of the barrel GPUs in terms of performance (only low powered GPU are made with an 8x connector)

here are some exemples ;

https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-gt-730-02g-p3-1733-kr/p/1FT-001K-00003

https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-gt-710-gt-710-1gd3h-lpv1/p/N82E16814127930

And then some 8x cards use 16x connectors anyway ;

https://www.newegg.com/amd-100-506001/p/N82E16814105071

https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-radeon-rx-550-gv-rx550d5-2gd-rev-2-0/p/N82E16814125968

So, unless you're ready for heavy modification of the PCIE slot (and risk killing the motherboard), you're better off selling it and buying a used i5 pre-built.

Don't go that route, mod the video card, easy to do, and performance loss is negligible

OP said it was a 2600 and i didn't look thoroughly at things,Oopsie ?

Anyway it was clear from the get go that a normal length PCI-E card won't fit there.

it's all good, I actually missed the pic of the front and I couldn't understand why I was seeing PCIE slots on a PowerEdge 2600 !!! :P

But if @Radium_Angel has a solution for him, that would make an ok bugdet gaming PC (but it's probably loud AF).

WHAT DID YOU SAY? SPEAK UP!

There are even solutions to make it *nearly* silent, but it's an electronics mod (along with a BIOS mod) that is a little out of my depth.

Initially it does go "whoosh" powering up, but if you put it somewhere with good airflow, it doesn't get too bad (but obviously much louder than we expect from normal systems)

As a project go for it, but you're effectively running a pair of Core2 Quads so games from that era most likely won't use the extra CPU. I have a similar system, a Precision T5400 with a pair of e5530's I think they are. The limiting factor will be DDR2 memory. You'll get the best memory performance by filling the system with as much RAM as possible and following the compatability guide.

Perconally I'd have bought a really cheap GPU and taken a dremel to the edge connector to make it fit the 8x physical slot. Then tried it with a used but more powerful one if it worked.

My 16x GC is detected but Nothing heappened

To the Display... maybe Win 10 will be just fine to make it work plug an Play

My board allows me to plug 16x in to the 8x pcie... anybody did the dremel thing before and one of his lanes got scratched, but 4x also should fit or am wrong ?

Thaught These slot are allways upward compatible...
