My case fans and cpu fans are spinning. But no display output

Ryan.com pc

Hi guys, I just finished building a new pc however when I turn the pc on, there is no display. Could this be caused by me not placing in an ssd or usb stick? I tried plugging in a usb stick but the same thing happens. Tried plugging the hdmi port both  into the gpu and also the motheeboard but there is still no signal? What should I do? Thanks....is it a motherboard issue the power supply? Thanks a lot

Could you list the specifications of the system? Mainly CPU + Motherboard.

All cables are plugged in? Including CPU power?

Hi, im using a i5 9600k and a z370-p prime from asus. 8 pins are plugged in for the cpu cable powers. The cpu is new. But the motherboard I bought it from someone who said it was supposely new. So I really dont know. Could it be the psu?

It's probably the motherboard not updated for the CPU.

Z370 came out in the Intel 8th lineup of CPU's, so unless the previous owner flashed a 9th gen compatible BIOS on it, it won't work.

See if there is a PC shop nearby who can update the BIOS for you (shouldn't cost all that much) or if you can get an 8th gen CPU for cheap to update it. Otherwise you'll have to return the board to the previous seller and get a new board that is compatible (basically anything you buy new will have the right BIOS at this point).

Ok i see, thanks a lot. However, I would like to at least confirm that its the motherboard which is causing the problem. How can I test if my psu is working? And what motherboard do you recommend me getting? Thanks. My budget is around 150usd

Best tip I can give for a new motherboard is making sure the CPU socket matches your processor's.
