I don't believe it will.

Z390 is designed for 8'th/9'th gen processors.

Their compatibility list doesn't include the 6700k, as supported evidence.

Best motherboard you can get is a Z170 or Z270, because Z370 and Z390 are too new. maybe consider a Z170-AR from Asus, I checked the used pricing and it's pretty great.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Is there some reason that you're in need of an upgrade?

If you're looking for better performance from a new board and an 8700k, you're going to be overwhelmingly disappointed with your real-world gains. Intel has really struggled to bring meaningful improvements in the vast majority of gaming applications for several generations now. My 4790k is still rocking strong because of this.

If it's application isn't sufficient for some other reason, such as productivity, then yes, an upgrade might be viable.
