AMD FX series

I’m rocking a FX-8120 @ 4.2GHz, 16gb ram, and a AMD 7950. 

So I was wondering if I should do a new build, wait for AMD to be competitive in GPUs or if I should just blow my load on a RTX 2080. ~$1000 is the budget.

What do you guys think is the best move?

2080 would be a terrible waste of money

If so buy a 4k 60hz IPS display for maybe $300 with a used 1080ti around $500 and you're golden until Ryzen 3000 comes out maybe june/july

From personal experience, you won't even get most of the GTX 1060 6GB in many games combined with that CPU at 1080p.

Forget about RTX 2080. Upgrade your CPU and get something like GTX 1660ti or RTX 2060.

I got a fx 8350 on ebay for $40 last weekend so. That might be good to look into
