will windows detect and read readynas formatted HDD

so i wish to sell my nas now that i own a r610 server and using it for storage and rendering.  Will windows read the drive and allow me to copy the files off of it directly via sata or will i have to copy over 3tb of storage via my slow home network [ Ethernet ] i dont want to risk the drive being wiped when i plug it in to my desktop.

SETUP: BenQ 27" 144hz|BenQ 28" 1080p VA 60HZ|Corsair Strafe RGB|Razer DeathAdDer Chroma|ATH IM70|E10k Olympus 2 amp|DX Racer King

What kind of RAID setup did you have on the ReadyNAS?

it was a single drive. No raid was used. risky i know.

I have several ReadyNAS units, though not that one. Assuming you formatted the drive in a standard format, then you should be able to read it without issue, but as always, the proof is in the pudding, pull it, see if it can be read. You won't damage anything by trying. At least not in my ReadyNAS experience with my NV+/NV2

I installed ext2 volume manager and it mounted it to my computer but when clicking on it, it asks to format. looks like i did not set it up to a standard format

Does the ReadyNAS have a USB port in the back? Mine has a one-touch backup to USB drive...

it looks like it does, im just going to try and backup the data on my 6tb ext just got to move stuff around, wish i had formatted the drive correctly though!

I understand about formatting. I always use standard formats, just in case. Yes I lose performance but I gain it back in compatibility.
