LTE device that is easy for elderly

Good morning or afternoon depending on where you're at. I'm kind of in a bind and I don't know where to even start. My great-grandmother is in her 90s not very tech savvy. I live about an hour away and with life being as busy as it is I don't see her as much as I would like to. My grandfather died last year at the ripe age of 100 and she's currently living alone. I would like to give her the option to have video calls with her family anytime she like. I know she doesn't have internet so I'm looking to buy her a device that I can put on my service plan (T-MOBILE USA).  But I don't know where to start. Do I look at something like echo view and have a Wi-Fi hotspot or do I look at something like a tablet?

I'm gonna suggest Apple devices here as they are made to be as user-friendly as possible and FaceTime is a very well-built tool for video calls, as long as other parties also have Apple devices.

I'd go for a lower end Samsung (Maybe a J3 if you've got them over in the US) and activate Easy Mode.

I'd also suggest apple assuming other people also have access to facetime. It's about as user friendly and intuitive as it gets, something like the 2018 iPad could be perfect, not too expensive and perfect for things like facetime and skype

Me too. If there are other iPhones in the Family, Facetime would be the easiest way to do video calls.

iPhones are generally easy and simple to use, and they can be used for a looong time thanks to very long updates.

 

It's fine if it's an older device, like a 6s (Plus) or 7 (Plus), or second hand. Might wanna think about a battery replacement then, and it's ready to go for another few years.

 

If Cellular Features like Phone Calls aren't important, an iPad 2018/2017~ would be also nice, with a bigger screen. Otherwise, an iPhone Plus model would be a decent size too ^^
