Hi All I was just watching the LTT Labs videos and i know Linus wants the LTT Labs to kill userbench mark so it got me wondering if the Labs will be going back to test older CPUs and GPUs with newer CPUs and GPUs. Would the Labs team be testing a 40 series GPU with an older CPU like 6 or 7th gen Intel or even older. I could see as graphics has gotten better that someone would choose to upgrade there graphics card but not there CPU or even have a lower end CPU but have a higher end GPU in comparison. Personally i enjoy when LTT play with older tech or find a new use for an older tech device to extend its life span. Just don't get scammed this time if they have to buy older CPUs and GPUs from ebay like Linus did with the Xeon CPUs a few years ago.

I'm gonna be switching my GIGABYTE B450M DS3H into an X570 TOMAHAWK. I'm gonna be using the same CPU and I'm not deleting any of my storage (OS and programs on NVME, games on HDD). Do I have to reinstall Windows on my NVME when I change the Motherboard? Also, my Windows account says that I'm using a code associated with my account. Does that mean I wouldn't have to use a new product key if I install the NVME in the new MoBo? And what if I just change the CPU? Sorry for the many questions, just want to get this all ready soon.

Hello, I've been having an intermittent issue lately. I'm getting random reboots (sometimes under load, sometimes at idle). An example of this happening (at idle) could be me being in a zoom call, and I start typing in a word doc, and my machine will shut down to a black screen. Then immediately following that, my machine will boot up again to the Windows 10 login screen. An example of this under-load would be when I'm in the process of loading up a game the machine will shut down and follow the same routine as stated before. This issue began after I swapped my Intel I5-8600k with an Intel I9-9900k, added liquid cooling, and added a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 drive to my machine. However, I had to update my BIOS to support the 9th Gen processor. I've done stability tests on my GPU using Uniengine superposition that came out to be stable, and I ran a CPU stability test using Intelburn test, which also came out to be stable. After doing so, I presumed my issue was a dying Power supply so I swapped out my previous power supply only to have the machine have a random shutdown again. After this, I re-installed windows to alleviate any software issues. It's a somewhat tricky issue to replicate as it is very unexpected at times. It will not occur for a few days but then happen three to four times a day. I also want to add that I've been having cooling issues with the new M.2 drive since its install. It has maxed out in its lifetime at 59C but will average anywhere from 45C to 52C since its install. As far as cooling goes, I have a single fan on the rear of my case pulling in, two fans on the top of my case pulling in, and two fans on my AIO pushing out. I've included my specs below. CPU: Intel i9-9900k. COOLING: NZXT X63 AIO liquid cooler GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 Founders Edition RAM: 32GB (2x16 DDR4-3200 cl16) Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 16GB (2x8 DDR4-3200 cl16) Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB Motherboard: Asus Tuf Z370 Pro Gaming PSU: EVGA Supernova GA 850W 80+ Gold Fully modular Drives: Samsung 970 Evo 1TB NVMe Samsung 860 Evo 25GB SATA SSD Western Digital 1TB HDD Western Digital 2TB HDD

Budget (including currency): Rp. 4.000.000 - Rp. 5.000.000 (about 285.90 USD - 357.37 USD) Country: Indonesia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: genshin impact and some other RPG games like trails series, and wird and powerpoint stuff Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): so.... i'm having a dilemma between buying old hardware with HP Prodesk 600 g1 intel i5-4590, 8 Gb ddr3 and just adding some gtx 750 ti/1030 it costs around Rp. 4.400.000-ish or buying a newer hardware with Ryzen 3 3200g using the integrated Vega 8 , 8gb ddr4 it cost just a bit more , Rp. 4.410.000 i haven't considered any monitor yet maybe fps wise, the older hardware may win because the added dedicated GPU. but the newer hardware gives more flexibility with future upgrades so.... what do you think? older hardware or newer hardware

Ok, so I posted my first thread showing off my new rig and introducing myself, which you can find here . I also put on there what had happened and my troubleshooting. After the the removal of my 1TB NVME and install of my new 500GB NVME, I only had a few issue's with the PC freezing. Then came the "windows quality update". So much for quality. I started having BSOD again. I removed the latest quality update and as I was trying to do research for an essay I have to write and installing MS Office Pro 2013, I get a BSOD. I have spent a long time trying to figure out what is wrong and I will admit that some of the troubleshooting left me feeling pretty dumb. I am at my last resort and that is to ask for help from someone on this forum. I got desperate enough to google how to send Linus Tech Tips my PC to see if they would troubleshoot it for me lol. Hello everyone. So recently i upgraded my hardware. Motherboard: ASUS TUF gaming x570-plus CPU: Ryzen 3600 RAM: Vengence LPX ddr4 3000Mhz 2x8gb What's the problem? It was working fine for about 4 days. And then left my pc for few minutes, and when i came back it had black screen and i couldn't do anything so i turned it off using power button. Since then, when i turn on my computer it gets to the screen with some picture before login (don't know what it's called), and when i do anything screen goes black for a few seconds, and throw me back to the screen with picture. In safe mode it's the same. Also while loading where the dots are spinning there is a moment where it looks like the problems are starting, since that moment screen occasionally goes black for just a moment and it looks like performance is lost. What have I tried? I tried to clean install Windows, after restarting computer in installation it doesn't go to the screen where i can choose language etc., it just go to the login screen. I tried to plug in my old motherboard, cpu, and RAM everything works well. Through cross testing i eliminated problems with GPU, hdd and PSU. Also I have returned my Mobo to the shop, where they checked it and they said it works fine, so it's probably CPU or RAM. Ubuntu works perfectly fine on new hardware. I updated BIOS. I reseted CMOS. My RAM is in right sockets. Do you have any idea what is happening? I feel like i tried everything to fix it. I hope it's something i can try to fix, and not send another component to the shop.

Today I bought a Asus 1070 STRIX GPU to upgrade from a Gigabyte R9 380 and a new EVGA 750 G2 PSU to upgrade from a semi modular EVGA 750 B. When I turn the computer on it will spin up and shut off, most of the time. The other VERY small amount of the time it will post and make it to the desktop, BIOS, or recovery mode but will shut off again within no more than 5 minutes. I've never had this issue before. Checked all of the plugs on both the motherboard and the PSU and everything was secure. It's a simple question: I recently bought and built an entirely new system and despite the fact that I'm very much enjoying the performance and looks of it, there are some parts I'm not 100% convinced of/ regret buying. My budget wasn't by any means what I would consider low but it certainly wasn't as high as I would have liked it to be, so I had to make some small compromises here and there. Anyway that's enough about that intro. The question is how do you manage your 'buyers anxiety' when there are so many good products out there and tech advances so rapidly? One day your rig is amazing but then X product launches and you desperately need to have it. Since I don't have a large amount of cash, that helps a bit (lol). But seriously tho... How do you guys approach the rapid improvements and innovations that are characteristic of the tech industry? How do you know what to buy and what not to buy when new and tempting products are always being released all the time? How do you guys stay happy with what you got when one day you have everything you wanted and the next day some company releases something that you (obviously) don't have because it didn't exist and, more importantly, you didn't know you wanted but now do you! (If that makes any sense).

For Christmas, both me and my brother gained new components for us to upgrade our PCs. I was rocking an AMD Athlon X4 860k, R7 370 and my OS (Windows 10) was on a Kingston 120GB SSD to be upgraded with an Intel I7 6700k and ASUS Z170 motherboard, all other components we're kept. My brother was having his entire rig replaced, bar his HDD which had his OS (Windows 7) on. Before upgrading I formatted all of both mine and my brother's storage drives. However, after trying to boot my PC up with the new components, it just won't work. It goes through a cycle of "preparing automatic repair" then turning right off then turning back on again to put me into a perpetual cycle of torment. However my Brothers PC is working just fine? Is there any way that I can fix this issue?

I'm going to say this in order of time. Time span is less than a week. Started last Tuesday.I download parsec software so I can use my computer when I'm at work.Next day I install new motherboard, CPU, and RAMOn the same day as the new hardware my computer starts to stop audio playback for a few seconds while videos/games continue to play. Keyboard inputs stop working as well. When it starts working again after 3-10sec and when in a game, the last keyboard input is "stuck" untill pressed again.Computer starts to freeze permanently untill a hard reset. Seems to happen when loading or playing a game or using after effects, but has happened when nothing was really going on. Temps are all normal and total wattage does not exceed what the PSU can do.Would leave PC on all night with up to 10 chrome tabs open on basic alarm clock web pages. And maybe a YouTube video. A couple times i woke up to the PC hard frozen like I just said above.I closed Parsec (did not uninstall) and the hard freezing stopped for the last few days, while PC was left on over night. Untill today when the video of a YouTube video keeps playing but with no audio. Keyboard lights up but inputs do not go. The YouTube video is buffering. Mouse works as normal. Vlc opens but does not play video or audio. I soft reset after 5min or more and it has happened 3 times so far. It seems to be the same event happening at the start, but instead of 3-10sec it doesn't stop. during one of these events I unplugged the keyboards two USBs and it just made it so the keyboard would not light up and still will not do inputs even though it was plugged in.I am leaving Parsec open now to see if hard freezing comes back.Still today and the computer crashed and restarted. No bsod just straight to black.Thinking PSU is culprit, possibly ram, then motherboard, and then CPU.SPECSOS: windows 10 64bitCPU: AMD ryzen 7 1700xRAM: 8GB DDR4 GeIL EVO Potenza 2x4GBMotherboard: Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming 3 K17 chipsetGPU: MSI GTX 1050 ti 4GBPSU: Xtream Gear 700W ATX power supply, XG-H700 (6-7 years old)Previous hardware if it matters.Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3CPU: AMD FX-8350RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 4x4GBAlso I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 gen1Let me know if you want any other info, like event viewer screenshots, been looking in there. I had some issues and they were possibly resolved on another post, but a couple days later I have more issues. So I posted them on my previous post, but no one has replied so I'm posting again since it could be a separate issue from the first. Here is a link to the first post with all the details about my problem https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1052663-new-mob-ram-cpu-computer-hard-freezes-and-other-things-help/ Let me know if you want me to post any more info like dump files or something. Thank you.

Hi I got an issue that I'm running out of ideas on how to fix. Before I describe the problem I'll just list what components are in the system. New items: Motherboard:Asrock b450 pro4 Ram: G.Skill Value Series - DDR4 - 8 GB - DIMM 288-PIN CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 SSD: WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD WDS500G2B0B Old Items HDD: Various old Sata HDD's GFX Card: Gigabyte GTX 670 The issue is that we cannot install windows 10 on the system. Every single time we try the computer gives us a Bsod before we even get to the first interactive screen of the USB Installation. I've tried a lot of things now so I'm going to list them here so people are aware of where in the process I am. First I tried a old bootable Windows 10 USB I had created a few years ago for my own computer. it wouldn't even show the windows loading screen. Then I tried to recreate it using the Windows tool for creating windows 10 usb. at first it wouldn't even show the windows loading screen either. but then I got to change a few bios settings and suddenly it seemed to trigger that the windows loading screen comes up but now after 5-10 mins it gives a bsod. I then tried to recreate the USB again using the latest Rufus tool together with a windows ISO. Followed a few different ways to create the USB with the same result as above I keep getting that BSOD. Foolish as I am I thought oh well I'll just install windows on my computer and move the SSD to his computer the result was Exactly the same a BSOD during the loading of Windows. I'm at my wits end. What can I do to figure out what is wrong ? I think it should be noted that the USB is a old USB 2.0 Pen which seems to work fine on my own computer just not on his computer. I've attached a image of the BSOD I get and of the screen as it looks just before the BSOD. Regards a increasingly Desperate Father.

Hey LTT think-tank! Looking for some leads on an upgrade for my 2015 build 17.3" Eurocom Sky x6 (Clevo P770DM/Sager NP9778 chassis). Was hoping to price out an upgrade panel to boost my refresh rate to 120hz or 144hz, but keeping it to 1920x1080 res. Trouble I'm having is I'm not entirely sure what to look for as far as compatibility when shopping around. Brand name means nothing to me, just looking for a good "bang for your buck" option. Current panel hardware ID: LGD046C edit: 30 pin Any help is appreciated! TIA

https://videocardz.com/76372/amd-promises-never-before-seen-hardware-demonstration-for-computex-press-conference So, this is somewhat expected as computex is where many companies show off the latest and greatest, and it was known that AMD is hosting a press conference. However, we now seem to have confirmation that new products of some sort will be shown. Honestly, the timing seems right for AMD on all fronts. They could realistically show off Vega "totally not nano" Nano, Vega 7nm, Threadripper 2, and the new APUs that were leaked. Of course there could be something out of left field too. I am personally hoping to see vega 7nm the most, because it's laying the ground work for Navi, and shows what kinds of gains we can expect to see at the node level. Nvidia does not yet have a 7nm gpu.

Hi, I would like to know how far I can upgrade my pc until Microsoft decline my win10 license. Since we know that product key ain't really around with win10 and its mostly done with system unique ID.. However i don't know where that ID come from.. is it embedded into the mobo? or the CPU? or is it even generated from the whole system config? (highly unlikely imo, but still possible) I'm asking that this morning because i'm planning to change CPU since i was in a hurry to get my dream build just working about a year ago when i suddenly decided to go to college while also working full time.. so i did not had the 450$ at the time for the 4770k /4790k but i got the G3258 25th anniversary pentium ( best CPU for the money imo ) it perform so nicely for 80$, since then it's been paired up with an GTX980 for gaming! it still perform well for most games but with games like arma3 and such cpu intensive titles, it literally starve the GPU.. now I'm ready to buy the big cpu but will microsoft still activate my pc after the swap? thanks guy!

Hey guys, like the title already says: I'm looking for a new CPU and a Motherboard. Sometimes I've got the feeling that my CPU is slowing down my graphics card but I'm not sure. I mostly use my PC for playing games so it should be something powerful when it comes to gaming. Now I have: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T BE @ 3,3GHz Asus Motherboard M5A78L/USB3 and a Gainward GeForce GTX 970 Phantom You can find the rest of my system at my profile if necessary. I'm open for every kind of CPU and a fitting Motherboard for it. (Already thought about changing to Intel) So I hope some of you could help me and make suggestions. Btw I'm new here and I'm German. So I am sorry for bad language and any communication problems which I hope we won't have

so I noticed that tonight's (from an aussie perspective) video isn't up on Vessel or YouTube yet..... and normally in the past this signifies that it is being held back by a few hours for an NDA (a good, recent example was the define R5).... so im starting this tread to have some guesses at it..... im thinking it could be 980ti, as I doubt any other card would be ready yet and cant think of anything else, but what do you think? EDIT: not about the possibility of the 980ti, but what do you think there could be an NDA for?
