With everything you have said I would save the $30.  I also never buy MSI after they got ***** slapped by Nvidia for doing something they should not have done.

I would love to but sadly the 280 and 280x is still pretty expensive here with the local retailers, its still almost at the same price when it launched. Even if i get it from Amazon or newegg for example, still the international shipping would punch a hole in my pocket. Sucks to be at this side of the world.
Also i considered power consumption. I live in a place or country to be blunt, where electricity is relatively more expensive. I dont really have exact figures at hand though, you have to take my word for this.

    Hello community!
I found local deals for a GTX 960 4GB card.
    One is from PALIT
    www.palit.biz/palit/vgapro.php?id=2464
And the other one is from MSI
    www.msi.com/product/vga/GTX-960-GAMING-4G.html#hero-overview
The thing is they have a difference of around 30 US Dollars(when i convert from my currency), with PALIT being the cheaper one.
The question is, what do i get for the extra 30 bucks should i go for MSI? They both have the GPU and same amount of VRAM, both have non-reference cooling... The MSI looks arguably better with a backplate and an LED lighting thingy. But im gonna put it on a closed case with no window so looks are not that relevant to me.
    Which would you choose?
And also i dont have experience with PALIT never heard of them until recently... anyone tried Palit already? Is it a good brand?

    sometimes MBs just act funny.

a small 4.0 to 4.02 clock difference is just the MB being weird. mine used to do that to my 1090T all the time.
i thought you were thinking it was using coreboost.

Windows Task Manager sees clock speeds wrong all the time, it sometimes sees 4GHz CPU's as 6.4GHz CPU's.
    Your fine

Base clock is 4 GHz, but it will never sit perfectly there, and boost clock is 4.2GHz. It will vary between those points depending on CPU load.

Nothing to worry about.  I remember a few years ago when Socket 7 were all new i was working in an IT shop and we had a batch of AMD K6-2 500s in and whatever board u would put the chips into they would detect as 509mhz instead of 500.

Dude, all of this is perfectly normal. The bus speed varies a bit from 200-204mhz. Also it has turbo boost and it boosts itself when needed to 4.2GHz I believe. I'd suggest you attempt to OC your CPU a bit because 4.4GHz is the sweet spot for this CPU. I got running my 8320 @ 4.3GHz on stock voltage without turbo boost. If you don't want to raise voltage just try to squeeze the maximum clock on stock voltage as the CPUs are a bit overvolted out of the factory. PM me if you want to know more, got even the same board.

WAIT HOLD UP. WE DONT WANT LINUS'S PERSONAL PC. The case has a lot of meaning to him guys. It was a gift from his wife. I believe it was the first gift from her too.
EDIT: Thanks for all the likes guys! Hopefully Linus or someone from LMG will read this and this will make Linus keep his build. Even if the goal of 100k is made we should convince Linus to do another build maybe, with signatures from the whole LMG family and maybe even his wife. This would let Linus keep the build he has with the special case his wife gave him. Besides, his personal PC would be more special to him than us.

No, you should be okay, the RAID configuration info is stored on the drives themselves. You might have to re-enable RAID mode in the SATA controller settings, but it should auto-detect the configuration.

I'm not positive, though. If this is totally wrong, someone correct me!

Yes I agree. I got chips from both Intel and AMD. I got an i5 4670k and an FX-8350 (probably these are not the best two to compare, but it's all I got). And I gotta say, that the only place I notice the difference is with synthetic benchmarks. With everyday use, be it gaming or light content creation, I hardly notice the difference, maybe a few fps in games, and a few seconds in render times but its negligible. I even run multiple VMs with the 8350 and I have no hiccups. I must say this clear though, I am NOT a hardcore gamer and NOT a professional content creator. So the load I put in my PC with everyday use is nowhere near to what Linus did in his test. So everyone else's mileage may vary.

Yeah adding aftermarket cooler should help. But you should also check other factors. Keep in mind that air cooling can only be of help if there's sufficient intake of fresh air. Otherwise, it will only recycle the warmer air radiated by your CPU and other components inside your computer case and will heat up your CPU, no matter what heatsink you put into it.

Also, you might wanna check your CPU voltages. I understand that you are not overclocking your CPU. But there are cases that, depending on your CPU and CHIPSET combination, voltages are set to higher than what's really needed even when you're set to AUTO. A BIOS update can help with this scenario, or simply finding out the stock voltage your CPU can run into and manually set your voltage to that.

bottlenecking doesnt work like that, if you have a single threaded game EVERY cpu will bottleneck a graphics card, just some more than others, if the games well threaded then no, it wont. its not a case of xcpu+xgu=bottleneck, it depends on the game
well threaded game that requires 4 good threads to get the best out of but doesnt care beyond that.
    http://www.techspot.com/review/734-battlefield-4-benchmarks/page6.html
badly threaded games that dont care about actual cpu power, just so long as you have 1 or 2 really fast cores while the rest of your sleep stays idle
    http://www.techspot.com/review/608-hitman-absolution-performance-benchmarks/page6.html
notice the fps curve is more angled..
to the best of my knowledge whether you have windows 32 bit or 64 bit makes no difference, you have lots to learn but your in the right place bud.
