Perhaps first person shooters or action flicks are really popular in the german market now, and americans are starting to focus on RPGs and comedy movies. They can know exactly what and where you want to and WILL spend your excess money. That iphone 6s seems a little too expensive to europeans based on information gathered? Microsoft releases a slightly underpowered Windows 10 Lumia that's priced perfectly with a beautiful display and enough memory to house all the pictures people seem to be lacking by not owning a 6s. What if your government, or ALL governments, knew what their citizens were thinking? Sounds cool right? You're spending all your time distracting yourself from your shitty wage job and stress of making bills on time. That could mean the government is going to reduce income taxes, right? No, now they know what the average person can or can't spend on certain products, so they could potentially implement legislation and relieve taxes on corporations that charge a bit too much on their products as a direct result of the average american's income. It would lower the price for the consumer, probably, yeah. Companies like thise idea because it broadens their profit margin, so they keep business going in the U.S. and don't transfer work or money overseas. It keeps the economy sustained in this area rather than boosting the economy of the other area. They can reword bills that already exist so that you think they've ended but are just reimplemented in the most current way possible. SOPA is a good example of this. The Patriot Act is another good example of this. TPP is another. In the end it boils down to: Do you want to be able to think for yourself, not have someone prying at what you think or know? Or do you want a world where everyone well above you knows exactly how to methodically break down your rights, take just enough money to keep you living and not question your government, or what they can or cannot get away with based on what the average seems to think and/or know about a particular topic? Imagine a meta-level "War on Iraq" but with everything. That's what happens when you give information away. Hard to understand the purpose of, likely built on bullshit, impossible for citizens to control.

Unless regular balance patches come for Diablo 2 you can expect it to die again. Bugs + Hacking/Cheating + Overpowered Rune Words + Enigma + no end-game content + Imbalanced Uber system + Dead content zones that look amazing to start. Round it off with a rant about the aspect ratio limits, FPS limiter, the game revolving around FPS in terms of calculation for a lot of things (think Skyrim/Triple A game physics, but with everything RPG), and Nonladder vs. Ladder system.. Yeah, it'll take a lot for me to buy a remastered Diablo 2. I've got the original and that's fine by me; like 14-16k hours logged in it before the Xbox 360 existed and another 5-8k after that in 2008-2011. The original only has problems because of neglect, not because it doesn't look modern. Remastering their old games seems like a scummy way of telling the world "We're incapable of developing what you want, so I guess we'll retexture our best titles and sell it to you for $49.99 each to make up for it!"

- APUs have "Compute cores" because of the technology behind them. This is why it's labeled with a high core count. While I agree the average customer will be mislead by this and sometimes assume it's a beefy processor for 1/3 the price of something with 1/3 the advertised core count from Intel, an APU is not the same as a CPU. They are not for the same thing. That's like saying I'm gonna go play Crysis 3 at Ultra++ with 16x forced supersampling on a Tegra K1 device. Like what the fuck. - "Cores" vs "Threads" is interesting; threads are definitely not classified as cores but modules should not be considered cores at all. And yet, at the same time, Bulldozer+ has all shown that there are 8 logical/compute cores that resembles hyper-threading from Intel but absolutely does not equate to that. They are worlds different, even physically.. I disagree with the reasoning that the modules are = cores while the clusters are thrown under the bus as extra threads. They don't operate like hyperthreading, so again, they are not the same as threads. There's no way it's a case against AMD. Argue all day on whether modules = cores, they are definitely not. We're comparing LandRovers to Rolls Royces. Rover isn't a truck, it's an SUV. The Rolls Royce is a sedan. Both are still considered cars. The dumbest news all year came in November..

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised about this either.. I mean, you choose certain wording for a reason. The thing is, AMD has barely been able to reduce power reqs for their cards, usually performance is seen but wattage is still high. The key thing is that it's still higher watt efficiency, so, for example, we may see a 185W TDP card that would've normally been comparable to an R9 290X at the currenet rate of improvement, and dubbed "R9 480X/490". But if it's +/- 2.0* performance per watt on a relevant scale (i.e. processing power and not texture bandwidth), that'd be like half-priced video cards of times past. You're still allowed to be excited if the above isn't entirely the case. I'd like to be able to buy something more powerful than the R9 290 for ~$140 and that now sounds like it'll be reality in the coming times. In 2/3 years that may sound like nothing, but all they'd have to be doing is replacing the hawaii cores with the next tier up in terms of gain.

I believe that the given estimates for Zen by AMD in regards to IPC were roughly 10% slower than Haswell or Ivy Bridge. This means they will be at least 2 generations behind Intel and then on a larger process than them as well. I sure hope Zen has some serious core count, energy efficiency, and base clock overhead to warrant a $250 price tag. These are not going to be cheap processors, and they may suck pretty bad compared to Intel's next step.

Considering how expensive Skylake i7 will be, you won't get an on-par/upgrade for what you could resell that CPU at. You could go the Xeon route (locked i7 equivalents, Xeon 1230/1231 V2/3 or better = i7-4770k/4790k stock clocks or better) since those are generally around $220 and can run fine on decent B85 motherboards/similar rather than spending another $60-$100+ on a decent Z87/Z97/X99. I don't think you'd get more than $240 out of the chip personally, but it's about as fast as a stock i7-4790k. If you were to upgrade, I suggest getting more cores/threads instead of backtracking to quadcore i7-ville just 'cuz it's on-par with price and performance, and newer. You won't pick up too much more power/speed out of your chip regardless of what you'd buy but you will benefit from newer motherboard features, system stability, and maybe a few other things. A 5820k seems like the absolute best buy right now for you aside from the proposed Xeons, but for now I'm really unsure if Intel has what you're looking for.
