I never got mid-roll ads on any LTT video until recently. That included the 4+ hour WAN show recordings.

I thought @LinusTech said you wouldn't accept health/supplement sponsors as a general rule. In my opinion (knowing nothing about Soylent, so this truly is about this rule in general) this is a very good rule. The food and especially health/supplements industry is really not known for being upfront and honest.
There are always so many variables to take into account when it comes to food and your own health that anybody who claims to sell you 'the solution to your problems' or 'Soylent has created the most nutritionally complete, most convenient, and most sustainable, food on the planet.' is straight up lying to you. It is incredibly difficult to truly investigate the benefits and dangers of any sort of supplement and even food in general. So any claim that a product makes is simply only guesswork. It might be true for you, but it sure wont be true for all.

Again, I know nothing about Soylent and they might be a great company. But I would absolutely stay away from any product of that sort.

Not really a fan of wasting the power there. The NAS is inactive for long periods of time so that does add up. (And it's mostly me not wanting to waste the power, less about the cost of the power)

It's not just you, I am baffled by all of the new shiny things coming out as well. HOWEVER as others have rightfully pointed out that stuff is mostly optional.
Getting good gamer compatible cases without glass panels is getting harder and high end gaming stuff with no RGB is also getting rarer, but there's still plenty to choose from. And thankfully most of the stuff will be hidden on your case anyways and can be turned off.
So 'hating' modern computers is a bit much. Not needing all that fancy stuff, yeah I am right with you. Cable management however is more than just looks. It can increase airflow when done right and it also makes serviceability easier down the line when done right. So my system is mostly cable managed even though nobody is ever going to see it.

Doesn't mean I cannot appreciate a well built and thought out 'all bling' PC. My biggest issue for me is that I swap components way too often for this to make any sort of sense and I would never buy a component due to it's look rather than performance and utility. But boy are there some pretty PCs out there.

XWAUForceflow got a reaction from dalekphalm in Gas Stove / Range gate? Discussed on WAN show
Oh boy I did not know how much of a hot topic that is. I can tell you one thing though, I cooked on a gas stove for maybe around 10 years and now have an induction unit since around 6 and I would never want to go back to gas ever.
For my cooking the induction element is just better in any way. (Full disclosure, I don't ever cook with a Wok and I see what for that gas would be better and I live in a region of the world where power outages are extremely rare. So rare that I do not even remember experiencing one where I live)
It's super fast, I could not see any difference from my gas stove at all. Not only in heating up but in cooling down. Turn off the heat and you see the results immediately.
It's super precise and much more uniform over the pans and pots in terms of spreading out heat.
It has the ability to actually keep food warm with no danger of single spots being heated too much or if you generally just want a very small heat. (Something I was never able to achieve with gas)
It detects if no pan is on the heating element and switches itself off after a short while.
The glass part where the heating element is under cools off much quicker than my gas elements did. It also has an indicator warning you that it might still be hot, something that with the gas stove wasn't there. So once the gas was off you had no way of knowing what parts might actually be scorching hot.
It's so much easier to clean.
On high power there is no extremely hot air (flames) coming up on the sides of the pans or pots that can easily burn you or your cookwares.
Air quality is so much better. That's something I only realized after I switched on how bad it got in the kitchen (and actually in the whole apartment) after a longer cooking session.

Your mileage may of course vary, but for me I simply love my induction unit so much. Also easier to install and service, and much more flexible in terms of where to put in the kitchen.

No, it was mostly the legal/moral implications of running a VPN.
A VPN can used for many good things, but will also always be used for bad things and everything in between. You will have the complete greyscale of colors in terms of good and bad. Let's face it, when you offer a VPN service it will be used for some of the most depraved and horrible things humans are capable of doing. And if LMG would make their own VPN (which according to Luke they basically already had ready to deploy and offer)they would sooner or later learn that someone on their platform is using it to do those things.
Then what do they do? If they want to be a truly secure VPN they simply cannot implement the type of logging required to catch those individuals. But that essentially means letting people do the things you really, truly do not want to be responsible for.
I am very glad VPN services exist, and I think the good they offer do make up the bad they allow, but boy I would NOT want to be the person in charge of running a VPN.

XWAUForceflow got a reaction from Kombatant in Life is full of surprises - AMD $5,000 Ultimate Tech Upgrade
When it was the Intel Upgrade Sarah pranked Linus telling him she bought $5.000 worth of a Starbucks Gift card. He actually believed her because it was within the rules. (I think she bought a CPU from Intel as well) There are lot's of things that people bought that wasn't tech and that is one thing that for me makes this series so fun. It's a lot more about the people than about just the tech.
Sure many use it for their PCs, but then for Yvonne why bother? She can pretty much have any PC she wants anyways since Linus can grab anything off the shelves off LMG if he really wants to. And he could easily call up any sponsor of them and tell them he wants to make a cool video about giving his wife the most awesome PC he can think of and they would shower him with anything.
So going off script here and just have her go bonkers and get stuff she just wants was fun, and also note that she did donate the original money. So she also did that part. If you didn't like it then I am sure there's going to be another episode with someone who goes more tech, but the fun of this series is that it has barely any limits in terms of what people can buy, so each episode can be fresh and have a lot of surprises in them. If it would be limited to just tech the series would become super boring for me.

XWAUForceflow got a reaction from Birblover12 in School forcing me to install MDM software on privately owned laptop
While I fully understand the frustration I completely understand the school. Having a bunch of uncontrolled devices from users who have admin privileges on those devices is a big no-go.
I mean think about it, you have:
    a) completely dummy users who click on just about anything and care nothing about security
    b) you have a bunch of wannabe 'h4ck3r5' that will try to mess with the school
    c) you will have a bunch of kids that actually know what they are doing and will seriously mess with the school

That is a complete nightmare for the IT staff, not to mention that those are most likely underfunded and understaffed. Locking down the users devices as much as you possibly can really is the only way they have even a chance of keeping the infrastructure running.
If it would be a public school I'd say they need to provide a device, but seeing it's a private school? I am sure they laid out the rules before you signed up. At this point I would suggest to bite the bullet and simply get a cheap device that you use for school and keep your own device away from it.
Does that suck? Sure, but if I would be responsible for the IT department of the school and I need to allow the students to bring their own devices I would do the same if not more to lock them down.

Yeah, the Eightsleep sponsorship with the forced subscription for a mattress seems really sketchy and not something I feel like LMG should agree with. Especially since it's not stated anywhere in the video at all. Normally Linux would talk about that, so what gives? @LinusTech did they not want you talking about it? (Which feels like it should be even more of a red flag) or why was it not mentioned in the video? (Or did I miss it after all?)

Kudos for handling the situation the way you did and for bringing it up in the WAN show. With you not knowing the current setup forces you to buy the subscription I see why you didn't feel the need to bring it up more.
I watched the video again and true, you did mention the subscription model, though 'clearly' is a bit of on overstatement in my opinion. Yes you mention it, but without any details about the model it's one word in a whole sentence that mainly focuses on the functions of the app and the bed in itself. I honestly completely missed it on my first viewing. Now, knowing what the reason behind this was I fully understand why you didn't put more focus on it.
Still, I feel LTT should generally always make it a point with any subscription model to make it clear what it enables and what will happen if the app is no longer maintained.
