Currently I am looking at the MSI MPG321URDE-QD and the  Dell G3223Q but they are both fairly expensive without any wow factor as far as I can see. They have VESA DisplayHDR 600 but as far as I saw in reviews neither are that good at HDR content. I also looked at the Dell UltraSharp U3223QE which is obviously not that great for gaming but would offer some advantages for productivity especially since it apparently has a KVM switching capability. (I often switch between my personal PC and work Laptop, so not having to change the USB dongle for my mouse keyboard all the time would be a cool feature) It only has a 60Hz display. Though having never worked with anything above 60Hz I am not sure how much I really need that. HDR on it is even worse though and apparently it doesn't even support Free-Sync so that is a bit of a deal breaker.

The Gigabyte M32U may be good for you.

You really shouldn't bother caring about HDR unless you have a display with a ton of dimming zones (like MiniLED displays) or an OLED panel.

Hi guys, hope that you have some ideas suggestions for me as I am sort of stuck at finding what I want. I currently have a 28" 4K monitor that I want to replace because it's simply too small to run it at 4K in Windows without scaling it up and as such loosing space to work in. A second monitor isn't really an option due to space constrains and a bigger monitor also doesn't work on my desk setup.

So the very hard specs that I am looking for is 4K, 32" 60Hz (or  more) display with a VESA capable mount. I would love for it to be an OLED, but that simply doesn't appear to be an option unless I want to shell out three grand. (At least in Germany and even then it's not really a gaming monitor)

Budget is up to maybe 1,500€ although that would need to be an extremely compelling argument. Honestly without OLED I don't think I would be willing to spend that much. Also note that while gaming is a part of the need to majority of time spend on it is for productivity. So while more than 60Hz sure would be nice I don't need a super fast and responsive display either. I don't play eSports.

Anybody have any ideas on where to go with that? There are so many monitors out there and I've been too much out of touch to know what review site to actually trust anymore. There are just too many listicals (spelling?) out there who only want your clicks and nothing else.

Agreed with @Andrewtst

Unless you have great vision and you are sitting close to your screen, 32-inch 4K at 100% scaling is still quite small. I'm comfortably running 100% scaling 4K on my 43in monitor.

If you run 32-inch 4K at at 125% scaling, you'll be at a great sweet spot of PPI (in terms of UI size) and working space. In fact, it would be extremely similar to how Apple runs at default 2x scaling on their 32-inch 6K display.

I can run my 28" at 125%, so I think I'll be fine with 32" 100%. And if not then so be it, I do not have the space for a 42" monitor on my desk.

Mhm, stats do look good, though I am really not a fan of curved monitors, they do take up a lot of additional space. Have to think about that.

That does look like a very compelling option, also considerably cheaper than the alternatives.

4K 100% scale in 42" look as nice as 1440p 100% scale in 27".

To me it is perfection, unless you feel 1440p 100% scale in 27" look small, then the 4K 100% scale in 42" will same look small.

Even at 42" i still prefer 125% scaling. 100% is readable, but significantly more exhausting to my eyes than 125%. And 125% is still a lot of room to work with on a 42" 4K monitor. I'm not a heavy multitasker though and mostly just have 1 maximised window per monitor.

@OP

You could get a 42" OLED monitor, but for work i wouldn't recommend it. You're much more likely to run into burn-in than someone just using it as a gaming monitor. You can get an LG C2 42" for about 1000€.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Yup I even use 150 percent honestly, just to keep the mouse pointer in a good size. 100 percent scaling is readable - but only if you sit at a normal monitor distance, but with 42 inches, you tend to have to sit a bit further away which make 100 percent scaling looks way too small to be comfortable.

I seat normal distance. 😅

150% definitely too big for me. 😊

The reason I ditch 32" because no resolution look great in 32" in 100% scale. 😅

I seat normal distance. 😅

150% definitely too big for me. 😊

I am not also but I dislike scale as they is some apps not utilise new scale will look blur and not nice.

The reason I ditch 32" because no resolution look great in 32" in 100% scale. 😅

I would love to use the 125 percent if not for the tiny mouse cursor, I can increase the cursor size but then it would not match the 'hit box' of the UI icon from time to time, so I settle with 150. Windows 11 UI is a lot more usable at this scalig imo, I could not stand 150 percent scaling on Windows 10 actually

I have 4k 32" and I personally use 125% scaling, I wouldn't use anything higher. Normal monitor distance aka about an arms length.
