This recommendation is not bad, i like the idea that they chosen M-ATX, there is no need for full ATX unless your building a super big or water cooled gaming machine.
i would go for 64GB of RAM, as its still uses DDR4 ram the pricing is ok.
for the GPU, yes there is a world wide problem getting a modern GPU at sensible price, looking into a quality used high end 20series RTX or even a new high end AMD card should be fine.
for case, its personal choice. if you really want to be different then Parvum do nice acrylic custom cases, or look into the Corsair 280X m-atx crystal series.
for sure you could most likely get a 2TB nvme M.2 SSD drive, i found a good deal on Newegg.
Air cooler is ok. and i have for the past 2 or 3 builds now always gone for the highest i7 / i9 NON K CPU, works a treat, you get the cores, hyperthreading and performance but less power usage and heat. you can also look at AMD, there is some good m-boards for an AMD build.
try to keep similar manufactures throughout the build and always review and research the components your considering.
if you want a recommendation list just ask, right now i have to go to work.

for an all out AMD build including a new copy of Windows.
There are some things that can be changed to save cost like a 750W PSU, a 1TB storage drive.
and always look for used GPU. i think the RX6700XT duel series with 12 Gb of memory is a good deal.
Prices should be USD as i used the USA parts picker.
hope this can give you some ideas. so many options to look into.

In 2019 i built my 3rd m-itx computer, designed and built by myself based on the planet Mars.
the last 2 cases / computers were based on Earth, but this time i wanted something different and went for a custom built Parvum X2.0 m-itx case with different than standard dimensions, i made it approx. one inch more in height so it can take a 2.7 slot GPU
The main components are:
Case - Parvum X2.0 m-itx special dimension case in (black main panels) (brown gloss front panel) (red frosted back panel)
m/board - Asus m-itx Z370 ROG Strix i-gaming motherboard
CPU - Intel i9 9900 with Noctua NH-D9L CPU cooler
GPU - Asus 2070 super RTX duel series
PSU - Silverstone FSX-L SX700 LPT fully modular power supply NOW with Cable Mod custom cables.
memory - 32gb 3200mhz DDR4 GSkill trident Z kit
main drive (C) Team Group T-Force Cardea IOPS 1TB nvme gen3 M.2 SSD drive
games drive (D)Team Group T-Force Cardea 2TB nvme gen4 M.2 SSD drive

nice to see you made effort to design and build a case and system, it always nice to see what people come up with and can do.
one thing i think you could have saved a lot of space is why not go for M.2 nvme drives to save space, save cables.
also for the screws used, if the panels were a little thicker you could have recessed them using "cap head" machine screws a little like Parvum do with there cases.
apart from that looks like a nice little PC, not sure about good enough for LAN party because the space limits the high end performing components, but for sure a student going to college or university, or for office work etc with some mild gaming if needed yes it looks good.

Really nice to see someone else that has put time, effort and some brain power into designing there own system.
really nice photography, engineering skills and workmanship.
not sure if you plan to upgrade the GPu at later date, its a good GPU for sure, but compared to the rest of the hardware i am sure you could easy put a 6000 AMD series or 3000 Nvidia series GPU in the future.
nothing worse then build logs that basically has rich kids buy all the high end and expensive components, put them together in a pre made case and they get all the glory for it because its shiny and new components, But this is the kind of build to myself and i think to many engineering type people that deserves the brownie points.

oh by the way how did you get sponsored? i have ideas for future upgrade on my Mars build but right now can't afford the cost of going for the Impact Mini DTX X570 m-board and a 3rd gen Ryzen.

i can tell you that no way is 128GB large enough for boot drive, with updates and basic programmes like word / office etc a min you will need is 256GB
for RAM its cheapest its been for a long time, i would get a 3200mhz 32GB kit whilst prices are good, or 16GB if can't afford 32.

Do this if you're stuck in year 2010...
SSD's are so cheap now not going with 1TB SSD is just foolish. If you need more capacity and you're on a budget, buy a 500GB SSD, PrimoCache and pair it to a something like 4TB HDD. It'll have 4TB of storage with near SSD speed across entire 4TB.

wow this is something, good idea to utilise an old PC that cost nothing and able to restore it to a half decent spec.
even though its big, retro and dated, its kind of cool at the same time.
well done on this, its nice to see people doing things like this now.
I guess the GPU is backwards compatible to run on Pci-e 2.0
amazing how fast things have changed, i look at some of my old PC builds and its like wow, they age so fast.

i made a few custom build cases, and people don't seem interested in a project unless it has the most expensive hardware,,
this is a skill to be able to work with plastic like you have.

if you want the features of the RTX (ray tracing etc and super fast DDR6 ram) then its worth upgrading as the price of 2080 / 2080 super and up are still high price range.
I am in similar position at looking to upgrade from a 1070ti to a 2070 Super, or i am also looking at used 1080ti on ebay, however you can never seem to win, i like the 11GB ram of the 1080ti and it has good performance, but no ray tracing (for Tomb raider etc) and it has DDR5 ram. so its difficult to know if i save up more and get a new 2070 Super, i know that i can't afford the next gen cards so leaves me with the option to save up and get the 2070S or an older used 1080ti.
for yourself as you have a 1070 (non ti) then i would say yes its worth upgrading to a new 2070 Super RTX.

looks really nice, like other people have said, keep it away from carpet.
not sure the temps, i would of thought the CPU cooler would have been mounted on the top of the case with fans pulling out the heat and duel fans (as big as possible) on the front of the case to draw cool fresh air in from the front.
like the idea of mounting the GPU on its side. should give air a chance to go around it and cool the card pretty well.
nice to see you choose to get a nvme M.2, makes it fast, clean, simple and direct plug in, no cables required.
I like this a lot especially its your first build

i don't get why so many people are still recommending old slow SSD or mechanical drive, you can get a good 1TB nvme M.2 SSD drive for a good price, for someone on a budget you can fit windows and a nice selection of games and programmes on it, then always upgrade later.
or at least get a 500GB drive (for C drive / windows) and then a SSHD (hybrid drive or a large SSD) for your games file drive until you can get another nvme drive at a later date.

Its also good to see people like yourself (and myself included) that can build and showcase there work and get credit for quality work / design and customisation from doing there own work, and using affordable components that do the job.
so many people don't recognize a well designed and built computer, and only interested in a build log if it costs a fortune and has the latest most powerful high performance components that in some case are just assembled parts, with no extra custom work involved.
my first m-itx build i did a few years ago now (i think 2014) i designed the case from scratch using large A2 piece of card and hand drawn the blueprints, then got it made from 3mm Alloy plate and assembled it. took 6 months to design and build.
i think your build has a lot of thought gone into it. nice work.
