I'd suggest you to wait and buy a board after the cpus will be released. The board you are going to buy may not be compatible enough to push the CPU you are going to buy, so it's safer to wait post-release

The rig I'm planning on buying relatively soon has a 2070 super, and a Ryzen 9 3900X. Also, just to note, the price has been boosting up on the PC slowly. https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/odinlegoman/saved/YKwXbv Not a problem right now, but, still good to keep an eye on.

Raptor_Fawr got a reaction from Crunchy Dragon in MacBook Pro 16 - Why is almost noone talking about it's numerous problems?
Honestly unless you need macos applications (mostly creative stuff such as logic pro x that are not available on windows for some reason) I'd suggest you not to buy apple laptops.

Some problems you are mad about are mostly common laptop issues, such as the 4 hours battery thing when using it and some usb ports not working properly) others are exclusively apple releated (the lack of 32bit support for instance still is an issue for some people, who chose not to install catalina update because it lead to instability on their mac exclusive applications such as logic pro x as mentioned above).

For that price you should better buy a windows10 laptop and you might consider to learn about hackintoshing it, altho you might also want to see if the law in your country permits such things.

Cannot agree more. Also I love the fact that you put 1080ti and 2080 in the same category, some people think that newer is automatically better.

I'd still buy a 2080 rather than a 1080 Ti just because it's newer and probably it will do better in the long run, but if I had a 1080Ti I would not upgrade it at all with the current market

For the sake of the argument, this is totally true and that's basically the reason why console games don't have a "graphic setting" option while pc games do: in order to make the game more sellable you need to make it more accessible to the players while keeping up with new technology. You must satisfy both the 2080 user and the 750 user if you want to sell

Here's the thing, though: when the PS4 and Xbox One came out, people complained that they had graphics equivalent to recent mid-range GPUs from computers.  They still produced great results.  And this time around, the systems will be quite current in terms of feature support.  If you could get equivalent performance to a GTX 1080 Ti with hardware ray tracing thrown in, I'd say that's a pretty good value for a console.

Here is my latest build, my long lasting dream finally came true.

I've always loved the PS2, it's my favourite console ever not only for the cool futuristic design that still looks nice 20 years later but also because it's the one I used the most.
Since I played Shadow of the Colossus no other console gave me the same feelings anymore, I was the guy that was carrying the PS2 at parties even if the other guys wanted to play Halo Reach in multiplayer, that's how much I love this console.

I feel that the build is now complete, but I will make photos of the inside once I get the longer sata cable I?ve ordered on Amazon to get a better cable management inside.

The desktop is a mixture of Nexus Ultimate and Rainmeter to make it feel more like a console rather than a small form factor computer, and it's also designed to be operated from afar since this is my bedroom media center.

The dvd tray works, but there is a software button to open it because I couldn't make it work from the original ps2 eject button. The power button works tho.

To make enough room for the Dvd reader I had to get rid of the GPU, but in the end it is a better choice this way because the motherboard I used in this one is a SFF that comes from the Deskmini A300 barebone project, and it has no PCIe slots anyway
(Big thanks to The Terk here, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrLj2R-tdrZFpGpPuyOCWtw , that inspired and guided my project in this direction).

I've used it exstensively for some time and temperatures are rather OK and even if Vega11 is not that good it can play most games at 720p medium setting without overheating. The back has an additional fan and some nice grilles that came from another SFF computer case that I wanted to throw away.

It's a very nice project that wasn't really hard to do, but it made me really appreciate the PS2 hardware more. And now I really want to make some other SFF computers in cases that were not intended for computers.

EDIT: I finally got the last sata extension cable that I needed to make a better cable management and I took a picture of the inside:

This about sums up why im pissed off about it too, lets be honest everyone assumed that at least the 4xx boards would be good until AMD switched over to DDR5 or a new socket.

I just noticed that the PSUappears to be a 1000W one so you don't need to replace it, you might just need to buy adapters such as this: https://www.amazon.com/Female-Supply-Motherboard-Adapter-Converter/dp/B001F2EF2G (it's the first one I found googling it doesn't look a very good quality product tho) and this https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-6in-Pin-Power-Adapter/dp/B002O21XHQ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=molex+to+8+pin&qid=1587749716&s=electronics&sr=1-1 (you can find again better versions of it)

The only real issue of your case if you plan to make it a high end rig is that you need a short graphic card since you don't have a lot of space there. The XFX Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB THICC II suggested by Avocheeseado might be too big for your rig, but everything else is a good suggestion. Especially the Ryzen, I've made some computers with Ryzens recently and I would totally buy again, it's simply the best choice for the price.

Can you share the motherboard name? The faulty one that I have is an old MSI with I7 750 and I think that the reason it doesn't power off (unless I shut windows down from the start menu) is that there is some sort of short between pins.

But a friend of mine have a Tomahawk B450 and it notoriously have some issues as a motherboard, there are a lot of info about it online.

I have no experience with such intricate water cooling solution so I must ask: is the problem that you cannot shut down your computer? Or the water pump?

It could be a defective component, sometimes one of my computers do that because the motherboard have an issue somewhere. It could be windows, I've read that there is a recent update that creates some issues with shutdown for some machines.

Or worse, there could be an issue with your water cooling solution (a small leak or something conductive that touches somewhere on your components)

Yeah Lubuntu would work great for that. You could try Linux Lite, just cause it's XFCE skin is modeled more after windows.  For remote desktop you could try messing around with VNC, but that could be a bit of a pain.

I did something similar to an old computer that had no mounting holes for any kind of fan. Since I have no sewing tools at home and I'm under quarantine I used some iron nails and a hammer and this is the final result. I need to put some kind of safety grill in the front and call it a win 😅

If you search online there's a few videos or articles about that CPU in 2019 and seems to still hold well in 1080p gaming, so yes upgrading your graphics card will definitely help you, you just won't get the most out of it. That being said, the RTX2060 is a nice card, but if for the same price you can get a 1080TI i'd say go for this one instead, since in a lot of titles you'll see bigger gains, especially if you'll ever upgrade your monitor to 1440p, where your CPU will matter less in the equation and your GPU will do a lot more work.
