Kon-Tiki got a reaction from Britishblue in why do my wireless headphones sound terrible in wired use?
    Hey datnonameboii,
using headphones with a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable doesn't change the audio quality, it's just a different connector but equivalent from a audio signal perspective. While I don't have the Bose 700 myself I could imagine that you might have to switch on your headphones even when in wired mode (for a potential amp in your headphones driving the actual speakers to work).
If that doesn't resolve the issues: Do you have another 3.5mm -> 2.5mm cable at hand to check whether maybe your trouble is caused by a broken cable?

    Hope that helps

Kon-Tiki reacted to will0hlep in Upgrading m.2 SSD
The more times you clone a drive, the more chances you give the operation to go wrong. You should just plug both m.2 drives in (even if 1 or both of them has to be limited by an x2 connection during cloning) and clone straight from the old m.2 drive to the new one.

This will also be faster than writing everything to a HDD and then reading it all back off of the HDD.

The MSI one has a 4090 and the better CPU and it also has a bigger screen. I prefer a 17" display for gaming. I'd go for the one on sale because it's got the better parts for cheaper

It doesn't matter one bit at all. The average gaming mouse delay is for example 8ms. At this point it's just so much diminishing returns just don't care about it.

Whether one likes an apology or not I think is a very personal question so valid that you don't like it. I personally find it to be a first step in the right direction.

The allegations Madison brought up require time to investigate. Much more damage would be done in such a case by a rushed, ill-investigated statement compared to a thorough, third party investigation which such allegations make necessary.

Kon-Tiki got a reaction from ClassicCustoms in Gamers Nexus alleges LMG has insufficient ethics and integrity
I think this is the main thing I take issue with on the GN video. All the other points were for the most part very well founded by evidence and there is nothing Steve or GN needed to do with regards to contacting LMG beforehand. With the block on the other hand I believe this would have been required, especially since they reached out to Billet Labs as well. On an issue where not all necessary information is in the public domain (communication between the two of them, for instance), reaching out for comment is good style. But that's not to discredit anything else GN said, only this would have required more care in my eyes.

So I don't want to comment on the veracity of her statements but this part struck me as particularly odd.
The work load is indeed a bit tough but tweets and Instagram posts can be pretty much the same. TikToks are not too difficult either. Either take from existing videos, or run around the office. It breaks down to about 1 post an hour. This isn't an unreasonable amount of work for one person to do. Is it tough? Sure. But if the job is too "fast paced" for you, then it isn't for you.

It seems to me she was just too green for that position.

GN should have reached out about the Billet Labs situation. Something like that needs both side of the story. And if LMG didn't respond in a timely manner then yes publish the story without their side of it. But that the only thing GN should have reached out about. The other stuff is fair game.

Kon-Tiki got a reaction from Mr.Nelf in Tommy Hilfiger are Filthy Scammers
I did read your posts how would I've been able to quote them otherwise? Perhaps you meant to say something else but to me it does not appear to be that way, hence my replies. My main point is not the factory. I commented on it with regards to previous posts where it seemed to me the factory question got an overwhelming weight (see the car analogy).

The major point I'm aiming at is why you defend a bad quality product which, adding insult to injury, is obviously overpriced against a high quality product while calling the low quality product "not a bad deal".

Edit: I'm not doing this because the backpack is an LTT product but because I don't see how your chain of arguments is supposed to make sense in this particular regard. I'm not even trying to make a rebuttal to your point that a lot of consumer tech like GPUs is overpriced.
  11. Agree
Kon-Tiki got a reaction from Mr.Nelf in Tommy Hilfiger are Filthy Scammers
Your original argument is revolving about who scams who. You initially state that the Tommy Hilfiger gaming set is not more or less a scam than the likes of Nvidia, Intel, Asus, Apple and Samsung (to re-iterate  the brands you named).

Before diving into the whole discussion that got unleashed after that I will discuss why this does, in my opinion, not hold against a thorough review.
Let me begin with acknowledging that a lot of „tech products“ are, in fact, overpriced, GPUs being a very good example for this. However, there is a distinction to be made here between GPUs (or iPhones, CPUs, … for that matter) and the mouse, keyboard and headset sold by Tommy Hilfiger (which I will abbreviate TH from here on); the product quality. While they are overpriced, the former products are of good quality and performance.
This does not hold for the keyboard-mouse-headset combination sold by TH. On the contrary, according to the tests that LTT performed, they are considerably sub-par. If they were of a decent quality and just overpriced things would have looked different. And while I personally don’t think it makes sense to buy grossly overpriced products for the sake of flexing on a brand but if someone wants to do so with their own money that’s not my thing to worry about.

You continue your argument stating that the concept of a backpack is so simple that it surely cannot be expensive to produce one of good quality. Shortly after that you state that „in the Tommy Hifiger case you just pay to get something because you trust the brand or because […] it is actually not a bad deal to get 3 things for 150“.

Let me begin with the second point. In the case of LTT merchandise I strongly suspect the buyers of such product have a high faith in LTT as a brand. And judging by the reviews and the community discussion that trust is very much justified. You get qualitatively very good products, and that’s the case independently of what you pay for them.
The situation is much different with the TH gaming peripherals. The quality of the products themselves is bad and that’s again independent of the price they are sold at. Selling them at a price of $150 makes this a very bad deal. Looking at your comment that "THEY COULDNT ACTUALLY FIND ANYTHING DECENT AT THE SAME PRICE" for a second. As with a lot of things out there the MSRP is typically not the price you’ll pay in retail. It is more of a marketing strategy to make customers think they’re striking a good deal. Thus, going by a "discounted" price is more than sensible to do.
I took the liberty to browse to the website of my electronics dealer of choice and entered the terms "gaming keyboard", "gaming mouse" and "gaming headset" into the search field. From the results I picked one product from the top three each and ended up with the following assortment, the prices of which I cross-checked on amazon:
    Keyboard: Logitech G213 Prodigy, $49.99
    Mouse: Logitech G502 HERO, $44.98
    Headset: Logitech G432, $35.49
That's just $130.46 and you get way better peripherals. Note that these prices are the ones I found on Logitech’s official amazon store. If you, as you proposed a bit later, wander away from the RGB and gaming-branded products but stay with reputable brands you can still find good peripherals at good prices. For instance a Cherry Stream Keyboard for $25.75 on amazon. In conclusion, with aforementioned setup you get a much better $/value ratio than with the TH one for the same price or less, thereby contradicting your statement from above linked post.

Now to the backpacks. To clear up one thing first: A product’s quality and capabilities are not tied 1:1 to the factory it’s produced in. Let’s employ a new analogy here. You can have one kitchen. However, depending on the quality and variety of your ingredients you can prepare a good, healthy meal or something that’s not very tasty or is tasty but very unhealthy. Same with manufacturing. In one factory you can manufacture cheap, low quality products which look good but will not last long and high-quality products as well. The prices of both products will drastically differ even though they come from the same factory. Several previous users have made this and the following points already so I will only sum them up. The cost of a backpack is not only driven by the choice of materials and shipping but also by the scale of the production, QA and the engineering that went into designing the product in the first place apart from more.
But this all doesn’t really matter anyway because what you’re getting is an, excuse my choice of words, damn good, perhaps slightly over engineered, but really high quality product. And that stays the same whether you pay $250 for it or not. On the other hand the TH peripherals are of miserable quality, no matter the price.

I don't know what the programs Malwarebytes found do so I can't comment on if one of the "browser extensions" might have extra functionality. Did you try disabling all startup programs and rebooting? Usually the FN key on a laptop is used to allow for using standard keys to control shortcuts related to the computer's hardware so I doubt this is the case.

Either way the conclusion stays the same, you trigger a screen capture somehow. I was just going to ask you if you have a third party screen capture tool installed. Take a look at what Malwarebytes gave you and if you find one or more (or even all) Programs it found are nothing you need any more, just delete them. If this doesn't help, look at which programs get launched on startup automatically and disable everything you don't need

    Hi Filingo,
are you by any chance using a MacBook? Ctrl + Shift + 4 (in default configuration) brings up such a cursor which is used for selective screen shots. If you move around the mouse when the cursor appears the numbers should change, representing the X and Y coordinates of the cursor on your screen in pixels. You can exit the screen shot mode by pressing the escape key. This is also in line with your observations that any keyboard inputs are neglected when the cursor is shown.

As for why this happens when pressing the "2" key twice I'm not entirely sure, probably the default key combination was changed.

    I hope this helps

    Summary
XMG announced their new Neo 15 (E22) laptop will be compatible with an external water cooler, the Oasis, which will launch at the end of January. XMG claims the Oasis can reduce the temperature of the Neo 15's i7-12700h CPU and RTX 3000 Series GPU (up to a RTX 3080 Ti) by up to 20 degrees Celsius. The Neo 15 will, however, also be able to work without the external cooler.

    My thoughts
While the idea of adding an external water cooling to a laptop isn't new and Asus already had a similar system in its lineup in 2016 (the ROG GX700) there hasn't been another externally water cooled consumer laptop available since (at least I haven't heard of any). In contrast to the GX700 featuring a 17.3" screen the Neo 15 only has a 15" display which makes considerably easier to use on the go as a mobile workstation. While using the laptop undocked and relying on the internal cooling capabilities of the laptop the performance might not be particularly special. However when docked to the Oasis the increased power limits for the CPU and GPU (115W and 175W respectively [3]) will probably make this laptop a decent desktop replacement for users who are willing to pay the premium for this solution. A higher power limit is not only great for gaming performance but also for productivity tasks such as complex simulations or renderings. And while running both the CPU and GPU at their maximum power is currently not an option due to the 280W power limit imposed by the power supply, according to Heise News [3] a more powerful PSU might be in the making already allowing for combined loads in the future.

I personally like to have a consolidated IT in order to not have to sync files between different machines and install and configure the same software on them not to mention the issue with having to potentially buy multiple expensive licenses for professional software running on multiple machines. Having a powerful laptop which can be both portable and even more powerful when docked in a "desktop mode" therefore sounds like an interesting option.
Of course the final decision as to whether this makes sense in the end or not will depend on the final pricing of the different configuration options, first numbers suggest around 2500€ for a mid tier 3070 and i7-12700H with 16GB of RAM and a 500 GB SSD. And it is also going to be interesting if XMG's promises regarding the thermals really hold up (maybe a candidate for LTT labs? ;)).

You need an antenna with a SMA connector if you want to continue using your onboard WiFi. A "USB antenna" in the sense of it only being an antenna connecting to your onboard wireless card does not exist. Instead those "antennas" are actually USB WiFi cards with the card built into the antenna itself.
Go for whichever option you like best but if your onboard card works you could just as well get an Antenna with SMA connector and continue using it (should be more reliable than a USB connected one).

Edit: There are also antennas connecting right to the SMA connector on your card without a cable, might be worth a look.

It could be an issue with your mobiles/ PC's DAC, so a dedicated one might be a/ the solution to go for. Before you run to Amazon and buy one, however: If you have the chance to go to a local audio shop (provided the current COVID situation allows for that) I'd try to test out an external DAC before buying one blind sighted. They might also have a known good 3.5mm -> 2.5mm cable lying around that you can test your headphones with.
