But the video is misleading, and pushing 400k views with nearly no downvotes. You can sustain your fundamental argument, but a single line of plain text with a link in the description doesn't make it look like any less like Apple hate for the sake of Apple hate, considering the factual oversight.

How in the world do you fuck up again? Do you actually think LPDDR3 is same as DDR3 SODIMM? According to the WAN show, Jon said the power consumption on these two different standards are the same when the reality is it isn't. Here's a quote from Wikipedia on the differences between DDR & LPDDR
So yes, when you consider the very dynamic use of RAM in day to day life even a small amount of extra power consumption used by a different kind of RAM will have an impact on the battery and far from supposedly 5% extra usage you put up. This is a bigger problem since the new MacBooks seem to have battery issues. And btw, please correct jon that while Apple gives estimate of 10 hours on the MBP other companies like Dell and Microsoft advertises as 16 hours battery life when in reality it's close to like 1/3rd of it (which @LinusTech knew but chose not to say it)

Second, why do you like the razer blade, when you could easily go with a little more bulky laptops which have like a GTX 1080 in it. If people don't mind bulky setups then they're better off with a desktop which could be much more powerful. People do like portability, no matter how you put it. Why is there a sudden interest in small form factor PC, although it wouldn't make any difference rather harm airflow or break compatibility? Same things going on here

Third, do many people even need 32GB RAM? A very very few people. If anyone's even doing professional work, their main system would be a desktop with 32 or 64GB RAM and this would act as a secondary. The main point you seem to ignore (or forget is that) this is a professional laptop when you look in the realm of laptops and not desktops.

And again you didn't address the issue where you don't seem to mind the lack of 32GB in other mainstream laptops like the Razer Blade where you gave a glowing review too (basically a macbook clone with GPU). Sure you could argue that it's not marketed to professionals rather gamers but that's a very moot argument especially considering that professionals know what specs they need and it doesn't matter what a device is marketed to as long as it has the required specs which the razer blade has

And fourth, don't go judging things before you try it. There's a reason why people buy Macs for their professional work and you can't just dismiss that. So please, instead of bitching about Apple blindly and give a negative review about the MBP on how it doesn't have any ports or how thin it is or etc give it a long-term trial replacing your razer blade (I assume you dont game on it) and ask taran or someone to give Final Cut Pro a try

I do think its a fair point that no criticism was aimed at Razor or the Dell XPS13 for its lack of 32gb options. They certainly didn't warrant additional videos lambasting them for the reduced memory. Especially since Linus uses one...

It irritates me how @LinusTech isn't replying to this thread despite being on the forum. The only reason I commented here is to bring this to their notice, but if you guys are going to completely ignore all of the facts put up here by others, including mine then LMG is as ignorant as the sad typical android haters. But I'd like to think otherwise, at least in Linus's case as Luke is lost hope (remember how he actually liked iPhone as a temporary phone, but never appreciated them rather the apps).

Btw, saw your @LinusTech saw your pathetic comment where you compared Gigabyte Aero 14 to the MBP. First, the Aero 14 has significantly worse battery life (which is pretty much the entire point here) and second you don't seem to have the same issue with Razer blade nor Dell XPS 13 which both have soldered RAM with worse battery life

Edit: I checked up the dimensions of Aero 14 and boy it's bigger across all dimensions (maybe not noticeable to eye, but definitely significant enough to make a huger difference in electronics)
    Aero 14: 335 x 250 x 19.9 mm
    MacBook Pro : 304.1 x 212.4 x 14.9 mm

    Phil Schiller's response is a "half-explanation"

"We couldn't because the Skylake CPU memory controller we're using doesn't support more than 16GB of LPDDR3..." - he left off the part after that that goes "... and while we could have easily added a a slightly bigger battery to counter the effects of using DDR4, we thought it was more important for our professional line of notebooks to be super super thin than for them to have the hardware specs that power users demand"

Apple could have easily offered a "professional" laptop with support for 32GB of RAM. They just didn't think it was as important to their users as size and weight.

Edit: And if the sales numbers are anything to go by, they were evidently 100% correct. But I don't have to agree with it.

So, bottom line - could we have done a better job of this video? Yes. We outright missed the detail that Skylake's memory controller is limited to 16GB if you're using LPDDR3, and Phil Schiller's statement hadn't come out yet at the time we wrote/shot this video.

Furthermore, I'm not aware of any swappable LPDDR3 modules, so YES we were stuck with a non-ideal apples to oranges comparison.

But it DOESN'T change the reason we were upset, or the fundamental disagreement we have with Apple's obsession with thin at the cost of better usability and performance. Our conclusion - they did it for space savings - is still correct even if we arrived there without a key piece of the puzzle.

Anker makes a USB hub with an integrated Ethernet port. I'm also generally a fan of Anker.

If you buy a USB 3.0 based hub and connect it via a USB 3.0 port on your computer, you probably won't notice any degraded connections. There's so much headroom over a USB 3.0 connection, you'll be fine in most real world circumstances.

Here are the most common 'bottom rows' featured on mechanical keyboards. The top one is what is usually considered to be 'standard' because most aftermarket keycap sets are made to fit it.

Gaming on a Model M probably won't go too well. The max rollover of a Model M is something like 2-4 simultaneous key presses.

For example, if you're jumping (spacebar), crouching (ctrl), moving diagonally (w, a) and trying to reload (e), something's going to give. More than likely something will give before that, because you won't stop completely depressing a key before you start pressing another one.

Won't be a problem for all games, but it'll stop ya more often than you think.

DO NOT run it on sanitize mode. Just run it on, like, a normal wash cycle. Some plastics will start to warp if it gets too hot.
