Elon made the statement, "Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated," I see no problem with this, yet a certain political side is literally losing their minds over it.

There is little difference between one person stating, "This group is inferior because of the color of their skin" while another person posts, "Everyone who voted for x is a facist nazi"

Can you guess which person would probably have been banned by twitter a month ago?

The flaw I do see in my statement to prohibit hate speech is that it often is highly subjective. Political biases with mods and those who write the algorithms often lead to unequal 'interpretation' of the tos based on which 'side' they are on.  I am very against hate towards ANY group (not only protected minorities) so, my statement was based more on emotion than anything else and may have been ill advised.

Exactly...twitters tos is pretty pointless when many of their mods enforce the rules unevenly and the site uses questionable algorithms that target certain groups.

Okay, if you say so. Yes, I support free speech even if I may disagree with it.

Isn't it astonishing though how a certain political side is literally melting down when all Elon has announced was transforming twitter to a platform that emphasizes free speech for everyone?

Wow. Now I've heard everything. Sounds like a pretty lame excuse to justify twitters past behavior when it comes to banning free speech that may hurt one's feeeelings. Yes, I agree that blatantly racist attacks deserve a ban, but it's to the point where just about everything the opposition says is, by default labeled as hate speech

It's pretty astonishing watching Brian Stelter and MSNBC (with a straight face) tell the world how Elon taking over twitter is all of a sudden a threat to the American election. I seem to recall Hunter Bidens laptop story being banned on social media weeks before the election. Now we are finding out that the story is turning out to be true...but, of course too little too late.

I'm pretty confident that Elon knows Twitter was a dying platform. I sincerely hope he cleans house as some employees have indirectly threatened sabotage. I don't feel too bad for them as many earned around $250k a year and seem to have the attitude of, "I can just quit whenever I want but I'll stay because I want to share to the world just how bad I'll have it here under Elon"...it's actually pretty pathetic, yet I have a feeling the mainstream media will 100% side with them.

My post got moved from another thread, so it probably makes less sense here, but I think its because of the algorithm, i very rarely use twitter and i only use it for artists, and to see what tech youtubers post, but the algorithm still shows me things i'm not even interested in.
I agree twitter can be a good source for news info, sometimes the only way to get news from sources that otherwise put up a paywall on their site or don't allow ad blockers.
There is still way too much toxicity on twitter and its easy to see because of how the algorithm shows things, its clear how twitter is and what bias their algorithm has, people still get away with posting things, while others get banned for it. I think there needs to be some kind of freedom of expression on twitter, the rules need to be applied neutrally to everyone.

I've never used Twitter and I don't intend to, but I'll say this about Musk taking over - Overall a very interesting development, from the tech perspective though I don't understand why is it such big news. The most exciting thing tech-wise was what Musk said about making the algorithms Twitter uses public.

We all know what Twitter has become recently and it's safe to say that it won't get any worse at this point so we'll see what changes in the near future.
The only advice that I'd give to Musk is that he should "clean house" and fire most, if not all of the people in management. Otherwise I'm pretty certain he'll have people inside his own company actively working against him judging by the hysterical reactions to the takeover.

Typical Ubisoft assholery. What dumb arbitrary rule dictates that Ukraine cannot have English language? Like, for real? Idiotic things like this is why I'm avoiding buying, playing or even pirating their stupid games. And I use every possible moment to shit on their asshole behavior. And from the looks of it, they are still assholes.

I especially don't understand their reasoning for this when ALL games they released have English available. There is just no excuse they can't provide the games to Ukrainian gamers in English. Ubisoft sells games in English to entire world, but they made some BS arbitrary decision to force Ukraine to read Russian language. If I was Ukrainian, I'd be fucking ballsitic and I hope whole world shits on Ubisoft, because thats exactly what they deserve. Assholes.
