Game Dev Tycoon. Surprisingly addictive. Just made my first big title, ah-hem, Screaming Mountain. A horror action/adventure game with a score of 9.75. Haha

I know Im very late on this but:

Elsewhere, VG24/7 learned that the minimum specs required to run “GTA V” on PC at 4K are relatively modest. In order to hit a framerate of 30fps, gamers will need an AMD HD 7870 or Nvidia GTX 760 with 2GB of VRAM. Doubling the framerate to 60fps, however, requires as massive step up in computing power, calling for a high-end SLI or Crossfire setup. “GTA V” will be released on PC on April 14.

See that is says, "calling for a high-end SLI or Crossfire setup." That should be a given.

I run this one. Picked it up for $430CAD on sale last fall. Absolutely no regrets. Gaming is great (even if I have to turn it down to 1440p for some games - SLI'd 760's weren't meant for 4k), but keep in mind I'm not a pro gramer nor pretend to be either.

The screen real estate is just mind blowing. So much room for productivity on this 28" display. I'll often have forums up on half the screen, Steam up in one corner, and some sort of video up in the other. Fantastic for video editing as well. Just love it.

Colours, while being a TN panel, are actually fairly good (at least to me).

I easily recommend this panel for cheap 4k. Love it.

Linus has a review of it as well:

This exactly. I started with a 240GB SSD for boot/some games. Have since added another 250GB SSD for more games. I like to put the programs/games on my SSD's, then use a couple HDD's for music/unedited video footage/etc (I have 3.5TB for video editing/recording/etc).
I would prefer to be entirely SSD to be honest. Once 1TB SSD's drop more I'll look at changing my HDD's out.

How much storage is needed depends on the individual's storage habits--it's up to you.

Blecter got a reaction from xByakko in GTX 760 2-way SLI vs. GTX 970?
If you want to stick to single cards then sell the 760 and grab the 970.

I actually just compared the SLI 760 setup that I have to a buddy's single 970 that I installed. Used Heaven/Valley for some quick benchmarks. Here's what I came up with (remember, these were quick benchmarks):

    System 1: My System
    i5-4670k @ 4.4GHz
2x EVGA 2GB GTX 760 SC w/ ACX cooler (factory OC)
    ASUS Z87-A Mobo
    16GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair RAM
The 650w EVGA PSU I have is too small for overclocking everything at the same time, therefore I used the CPU overclock and the factory OC settings on the GPU's (So 1202/1215MHz core under boost/ and 3004/6008MHz Mem)

    System 2: His system
    i7-2600k @ 4.4GHz
    1x EVGA 4GB GTX 970 SC w/ ACX Cooler FTW Edition (1216MHz base/1367MHz boost core, 3505/7010MHz mem)
    ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe Mobo
    16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM

So what I ended up with (both ran at 1080p max settings available on the free versions):

    Valley

Card                                                              Min FPS       Max FPS        Ave FPS        Score
    2GB 760 SLI - Factory OC                              32.6              145                 75.9              3178
    4GB 970 Factory OC                                       22.7              114.4              58.9              2464
    4GB 970 +125MHz core/+200MHz Mem        30.1              114.7              62.5              2615

    Heaven

Card                                                              Min FPS       Max FPS        Ave FPS        Score
    2GB 760 SLI - Factory OC                              18.9              139.2              59.9              1508
    4GB 970 Factory OC                                       8.40              121.5              56.0              1411
    4GB 970 +125MHz core/+200MHz Mem        26.5              128.9              60.2              1518

So there's some quick numbers for you. The 970 takes OC's like a champ, and I wish I had more time to dial in that 970 before my buddy needed the system back, but alas, it is stable with the +125 Core/+200 Mem OC over factory.

While I am enjoying my 760 SLI, the 970 does open up more options for you in the future, and produces less heat. Actual performance between a 970 and 760 SLI are not too far off each other, so if I were going to choose today I would go with the 970 hands down. Hope this helps you make your decision.

4k gets my vote all day long. Hell, even my GTX 760 SLI setup is doing decent for 4k gaming. But the real estate! So much space for productivity! It pains me to look at the 21.5" 1080p monitor next to my 28" 4k now.
1080p is a thing of the past for me on anything bigger than a laptop. 4k is just soooo sexy.

I'm using the Samsung U28D590D. Really like it. Linus has a video of it - I recommend checking it out. Only thing with mine is some backlight bleed along the bottom edge in dark scenes. Colours are good once you play with them a little.

I am really enjoying the Samsung U28D590D 28" 4k monitor I picked up on sale on Friday ($428 CAD before taxes from Memory Express). Haven't used any others/G-Sync to compare however.

I'm also really surprised at how well my 2GB GTX 760 SLI is working. Playable frames (30-35+) in everything I've tried so far on games with max settings/no AA/at 4k. Need to test with some other games however.

Only downside is that I notice some back-light bleed through on the bottom of the monitor during dark scenes.

I'm something like $120 Canadian into recording/editing software (DXTory/Song Movie Studio 13 Platinum) and it does more than any amateur Youtuber requires.
If you can't pay for it, then you shouldn't have it. Simple. And you certainly don't need a $600 program if you're just starting off.
Some of the free programs arn't bad to start off with/learn.
