Budget doesn't mean shit. You have to define what budget means to you. (I am mad. My apologies if this came of too rude)

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

A "budget" 4k set up? Let's see

-There is no budget 4k monitors. If you select something under 400 or so USD you will be getting issues like horrible lag

-There is no such thing as a budget GPU for 4k gaming. The bare minimum would be a 970 or 290x and even then they will struggle on demanding games meaning you actually need 2 of them

-There are no real budget components to complement those GPUs to their full potential. Specially if you go SLI which is highly recommended

-There is little to no budget 4k content: At most you might be able to find a tiny amount of videos in 4k on youtube and Netflix. And even then you will need a reasonable speed (20+mbps) and no caps to even download and enjoy.

Sorry but budget and 4k just have no points of connection here, if you need a tight budget 1080p is what you should be looking at, 1440p at the most.

Hi @mystery707,

Dell P2815Q and Samsung UD590 are both the cheapest monitors at 4K for about $500 USD. They're TN panels and have high lag, just so you know.

They have the quality of a $100 1080p monitor, but with higher res - low refresh rate, tn, etc.

But this isn't 'budget' and you can't have a 'budget' computer to power these monitors. I personally would opt for 1440p if you'll looking for 'higher than 1080' resolution monitors.

To put this in perspective, a 970 can pull 60fps in Battlefield 4 with maxed out graphics on 1440p. At 4K, I can barely get 50fps with Medium settings. Typically, I'll get around 40.

The choice is yours my friend, and I hope this helps :D

Canada eh?

Sorry I'm new to this its USD

Now we are talking. I just had a look at the current market and you can get some pretty great monitors for that price. You can get a couple really good IPS 4K monitors at that price point. For  549.99 you can get the Dell P2715Q (http://pcpartpicker.com/mr/macmall/dell-monitor-p2715q) that is pretty damn good however it does have the problems that come along the 27 inch screen size at 4k. (ie you will need to use scaling and scailing sucks) Another monitor that comes to mind is the Acer B326HK that would be usable without scaling. But it's also 800$. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009716&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= Btw if you buy that one use the promocode.

I'm actually investigating this at the moment. I've got an ROG Swift, and want a budget 4K panel for Netflix/Casual gaming (just to get a taste of "4K"). I'm probably going to go with the Samsung option as the Asus panel cost $300 more in Australia- just for a better stand.

Most of those budget 4K's are nice but I hate that they only run at 60hz.

>60Hz at 4K is not currently possible. You need DisplayPort 1.3, which is not supported by any graphics card. So you will not see any 120/144Hz 4K monitors at this time.

If you're looking at the PG278Q (Swift) then maybe look at the Acer XB270HU instead. It's a bit better.

I understand that. But even 1080p or 1440p is stuck to 60hz on those monitors right?

I wouldn't say that. I just turned scaling off with my 28" to remind myself what it was like and actually nothing is unreadable, even without my glasses on. Someone with decent eyesight wouldn't have a problem really.

I wouldn't recommend going lower than 27-28", like the cheap 23.8" IPS Dell has, but at this size the only reason I actually bother with scaling is because in web browsing sites can look a bit silly occupying a narrow strip in the middle.

You mean reducing the resoultion on the 4k one to have more hz? If so no that doesn't work.

Samsung U28D590D is gud

I run this one. Picked it up for $430CAD on sale last fall. Absolutely no regrets. Gaming is great (even if I have to turn it down to 1440p for some games - SLI'd 760's weren't meant for 4k), but keep in mind I'm not a pro gramer nor pretend to be either.

The screen real estate is just mind blowing. So much room for productivity on this 28" display. I'll often have forums up on half the screen, Steam up in one corner, and some sort of video up in the other. Fantastic for video editing as well. Just love it.

Colours, while being a TN panel, are actually fairly good (at least to me).

I easily recommend this panel for cheap 4k. Love it.

Linus has a review of it as well:

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!
