most likely a mounting hardware problem at this point. Remember how 12th gen needed a bracket to fix the heat issue? So does 13th gen. https://www.ebay.com/itm/385148851289?hash=item59aca91459:g:N5kAAOSwnDxjQmp7&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8E4%2FYEQvUlfb0HElKZhi4kZQQ%2FJS%2FIFOKLBvIEFBmnW0rMobxbekgpIRBc26IseaNHC7HDdx7nAydmqx8d6cGq47iaxtT4NvJY8Om5Ermj6e40uPRYPO2r57mmWhERjiBgdiLdEiZDaK9erzWIJt0zNIhSdFhSylGz8BXJVCdeGxkU3sZWhGEmvMNWaox1KJn%2F1v6c%2BCJy1t%2F8dhVgczu8kVFuYwEF1WQq4klrgWLgpA5Ejgfe5Ohz9TTXDOH0ceEbMiHvSaHJeGhJn99V7REKuFw3j9TbAOf7Cr4jj1GXAcGUorz6rTTl21NmO%2BGyaTVA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBMqqOdtoth

Here’s the best bracket- the Thermal Grizzly one is what I use, but this one is more foolproof when installing.

What the msi is pushing it to 205+w. Yeah no wonder its going hot hot. You can tune it yourself for better results.

Another thing is that the lga1700 socket has a lot of mounting pressure issues and getting aftermarket cpu bracket can do a lot. The fact that there is a big abscene of paste in the middle indicates that its not mounting well.

Ah, that's why I didn't think of SAM, you didn't mention the GPU, carry on then. Hope you find the solution.

It is my understanding that AMD support is better on the Linux side of things. Furthermore the steamdeck uses AMD hardware so it will not make nvidia suddenly more willing to support Linux unless something else happens.

AMD drivers are part of the Linux kernel so natively supported these days. I personally tried it the last time (in regards to gaming) a few years ago with a somewhat older card and managed to get things working with a bit of thinkering. But like I said any modern AMD card will have support baked into the kernel.

So yeah generally speaking AMD cards are considered the better choice for Linux.

NVIDIA support is NOT bad, it just requires you to install non-free drivers which need to be installed afterwards, as for the software support, NVIDIA is just a bit behind when speaking about Optimus support, GSYNC/Freesync (not anymore in the future releases) and Wayland support (still, not anymore in future releases)

AMD support on the other hand, is all open source and then integrated in the kernel and there is no need to fuss with anything at all

I've been on Manjaro KDE for a while. It's pleasant to use for work and very stable. My only problem is when I use a dual monitor setup, KDE will sometimes go bork itself by loosing my wallpapers and right clicking doesn't work. I had to delete the KDE config file to generate a new one so I could get a fully working desktop again.

The hard reset crashes sounds more like issue with RAM, PSU or stuff like that. You would get artifacts or other display related defects if it was GPU, and CPU can take much more temps before safety shut-down. Could be also unstable OC, if you have anything going on. But those would also do BSOD.

On case side, it looks like decent as per GN review.

No, you just set it to 3200 MT/s in the BIOS, many monitoring applications will read it as 1600Mhz, which are both correct.

1080's are display port 1.3+, so you're set.  Just get a regular DP cable and you'll be fine.

I use a 1080Ti with my UW and DP.

Depends on the game you're playing but the eSports stuff should hit 100Hz no problem.

I think you'll be all set and happy as hell with it. Love my UW and won't go back.

Fantastic display for the price.  Absolutely pull the trigger if you have the PC to push 1440p UW.

I am currently using a 1080 144Hz IPS monitor for a main monitor but would like to add a side monitor for YT and whatever.

What kind of requirements or criteria do you guys think should the 2nd monitor meet?
The way I see it, it should at least be IPS for better colours and also 1080p since it will be used for browsing and videos but other than that anything should be alright?

I am currently looking at this one and think it should be alright

try OC your current memory kit even more. It's not the like the 2700X is all that capable in memory anyway

There really isn't any upgrade to be had. 3200 MHz is about the sweet spot, sure a little faster would be a little faster on paper, but you would see no difference at all, especially not for the price. We would be talking 1-2% gains at BEST, and 0% most of the time to be honest.

It's a standard case but if you want to customize it the simplest modification is to get custom made vinyl decals.

Vinyl is easier and faster to apply as the above post said. You could add painted decals if you wanted to

For general purposes, the sound card built into any motherboard is perfectly adequate. If you wish to enjoy higher bitrate content and/or do anything with MIDI, you will need a dedicated sound card. Whether it's USB or PCIe is more or less up to you. My future application of using MIDI in a live stage environment only requires something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EO6X7PG/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_3?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

There are a few people on this forum who can explain far better than I could all about how sound cards actually work (sadly I don't remember who they are, otherwise I'd ping them for you). I do live sound, lighting, and projection so my needs vary a bit from the average user though.

Your setup is only good for 50 to 60fps on AAA at 3440 X 1440.

I bought a GTX 1080 at launch to run my Samsung 60hz 3440 X 1440 monitor. In 2016 and 17 it did keep all the AAA games I bought above 60fps(not average). By 2018 it started to struggle so I replaced it with a GTX 1080 ti.

The Alienware would be a good match for you because it has G-sync and it is good if your computer is not capable of doing the monitors refresh rate. The only thing I don't like about it is that it does not have HDR.

I have a similar display on a 1080, though don't expect to run anywhere near 120 fps on medium/high settings.
    I'd recommend an upgrade to a 2080S or 2070S
