    Thanks for reply everyone. 🥰

Lucky me, everything worked fine transferring from AM4 to AM5 with the same mounting brackets.

Worst case, just buy the 7mm offset bracket for it which Noctua should have. Its like $5 especially if you have Amazon Prime where shipping should be free. It works as advertised and improves CPU temps by 2-3C, which can matter on 7000x3D.

Amazon.com: Noctua NM-AMB12, Offset AMD AM5 Mounting Bars for Improved Cooling Performance (Silver) : Electronics

TLDR: AM5's CCD positioning isn't centered on the CPU substrate therefore is offset, where offsetting the cooler to accommodate provides better cooling for the CCD. This wasn't the case with AM4, mostly.

    NH-D14 will cool a 7800x3D perfectly fine.

It should fit the 7800x3d, as if it's mounted to an AM4, it will mount the exact same way to an AM5.  For example my EK AIO fits both AM4 and AM5 with the same mounting hardware, so if the hardware was used on AM4 then reuse it on AM5.

I mean, I have no idea if you bought it before 2019  of course.

Though you can get a new cooler, or get a mounting bracket if infact it doesn't work.

You have options.  And a CPU Cooler is the least your concerns in a PC build, IMO.

Yes, the AMD AM5 motherboard socket uses the same CPU cooler bracket size as the AM4 socket.

Won't need a mounting bracket if you have the cooler purchased after the date specified.

If you already have an iPhone X, you won't be getting much of an upgrade, I think. Unless you are having any issues with it.

not so much physically, but being help desk I've experienced many times over the years where a cx calls in at their wits end, they've tried EVERYthing to get their stuff working. I get on the phone and magically it starts working, I haven't even got the account pulled up to do anything yet and it just works cuz IT's on the phone. XD

"What can i buy right now that will be able to get x fps in ALL games for the next n years, so i don't have to upgrade?"

i can see how this makes sense for MOST people. the "wasting" paste would only affect a very small number of people. the majority of people would apply paste once and then never touch it again.

Though if you're satisfied with 1080p at 27" and are somewhat competitve FPS player - Asus VG279QM. Or the smaller VG259QM, they cost both the same.

Zen2 wasn't all that big of a deal in terms of technology per-say. It wasn't a massive generational leap or anything. Yes, 7nm is nice and all, but I wouldn't call it a eye watering speed improvement over say a 8700K.

What it did do, is provide value. AMD's margins were such that they are able to undercut Intel and make a really good value chip for the average consumer at a price point that couldn't be matched. AMD also proved that they could be trusted to make reliable hardware and software on the CPU side.

Which CPU exactly? Ryzen 4000 can include the impending Zen 3 desktop CPUs, as well as the Zen 2 APUs that exist today.

If you mean Zen 3, I'd lean towards waiting it out since the chances are we'll get it before the year is out. At least then you can check out whatever the latest mobo chipset will be, rather than the compatibility gamble from older generations. It'll work, but there's always little details that crop up when you start digging.

Ryzen 4000 includes Zen 2 APUs and eventually Zen 3 desktop CPUs. AMD have copied many things from Intel over the years, but I really wish they didn't copy the stupid generational naming mismatch Intel used to do as well.
