How about the Gigabyte Aero 15? Linus used it as a comparative benchmarking "thin i9 laptop" in the very video in question.

Cooler is more than likely faulty, but if you give us a photo of the system it could be easier to determine it... if you're using Stock Intel cooler on a fully closed box with terrible airflow with that open air GPU cooling solution this could greatly affect your thermals negatively... if to the point of this awful result though is a mystery.

that's a GPU issue. remove drivers using DDU and reinstall just to be sure, but the GPU is probably dying.

Some boards have extra sata controllers.
The 2 sata ports disabled thing i believe it's a limitation due to the small number of pci-e lanes chipset creates (i think 8 for x470, 5 or 6 for b450)

An option would be Threadripper... 64 pci-e (4 to chipset, 60 pci-e lanes to slots and m.2)

    8 sata + 3 x m.2 nvme + pci-e x8/x16 to plug 4 x m.2 adapter cards in

    + cooler

Alternatively, there are sata controller cards/ hba cards to add more ports

I don't mind different faces on LTT. These guys write the shows, and from my experience as a script writer there is nothing more infuriating than having somebody else not do justice to my work.

If I write a joke that requires a character based delivery, but the guy who ends up reading my script doesn't have that character, the joke is gonna fall flat.

If I were a betting man, I would say the writers are very happy with being in more videos for this very reason. There is nothing more painful than watching somebody else mince your work.

If OP were an engineering student, he would be foolish for looking at anything less than a portable workstation like the Thinkpad P52.

If I had to guess, he is around the age/schooling of a college freshman. In which case he will need nothing more than Office 365 and Google Chrome.

SenKa reacted to Luscious in The First OLED Monitor! - ASUS PG22U
My OLED display on my Galaxy was showing signs of burn in after just two years. For that to happen with a $4000 monitor is simply inexcusable. And you are correct - by the time the price does come down it will be replaced with newer technology for sure.

It's far too expensive for a portable monitor, far too fragile to last beyond 2-3 years without burn-in issues and far too big to carry comfortably. This reminds me of the HP HDX9000 monster 20 inch laptop from 2007 - those things became tech dinosaurs pretty quickly.

Show me a laptop with a 20 inch 4K IPS display, however, and my opinion changes.

Does anybody care about what the Unsworth said BEFORE Elon tweeted? he said "can stick his submarine somewhere where it hurts" and I would think that most of us would imply you know what, so really it was Unsworth who instigated, and Elon responded with what was still kind of unnecessary, but his response was only because of what Unsworth said in the first place.

SenKa got a reaction from myselfolli in Clickbait titles and thumbnails
Which is his first objective, if he's running his business properly. Not only can you not make everyone happy, if he tried LMG would go under in a week.

The issue with the term "clickbait" is that it's subjective to the content of the video.

Being a long time viewer and somebody who keeps up with technology news regularly, I can't find a piece of click bait posted in the last 2 weeks. Some video titles are more informative than others, but "clickbait" is incredibly subjective and a term I disagree with. The general rule of content creation is that your target audience (For LTT, the mildly well informed techie) should know what they're getting in to before clicking play. The only videos I personally cannot match to that rule are (in the last 2 weeks):

    "This Changes RGB Forever"
"Sorry Apple... 'The Notch' is DEAD!"
"The Most Sensible Way To Kill The Notch"

So, if I were at LMG's LTT decision validating all titles and thumbnails for validity under common wisdom I would have flunked 3 that have been posted in the past 2 weeks. Considering how many editors LMG employs a 3/39 rato (or 7%) failure rating is better than I could say for most of my subscription box.

But as with this entire thread, it's all opinion.

    Macbook Air, IMO

The Macbook has display cable issues, and a VERY fragile logic board

The Macbook Pro is the cheapest, last gen model and lacks usable storage amounts (and storage is unchangeable on the 2017 model as well as the 2018 iirc)

Macbook Air is lower specs than the MBP, but the best device by far given its higher storage. It is even fine for video editing due to Intel Quicksync acceleration if that's what you do. It is what I do, so I had to mention it.

If you could afford a modern 4 TB3 port Macbook Pro 13, I would advise that. But the one you mentioned simply doesn't deserve to exist.

Quick testing of the scenarios of which it failed prior, and could not. No amount of large, small, or compressed files could tank the drive to 0 Mb/s.

I believe it was a Windows bug, as I was on 1803 the last time I had the issue.

I will run some tests on my 8TB drive, it was the biggest offender between my OS drive, 1TB SSD, and that.

I believe it may be a windows bug, but I have ~6TB of files to test with.

Will come back with results. But, for sure get a UPS.

I only had that issue with very large batches of the files (several TB's.)

I honestly couldn't tell you what exactly, I wish I could. I will say, it has gone away since I updated to 1809.
