Essentially. TBH i don't think they could truly remade the game without spending 5+ years on it. The shear amount of game assets would make the art side take way too much time and money than a remaster should. This is especially true since every single asset would have to be remade because I am sure none to very little of it at the time was procedurally generated because that was not how games were made back then. So you're stuck because have to honor the look and feel of the old title.
In modern games the biggest move is to shift as much of the artwork to programmers as possible because a computer can generate art faster than a human can. This is the only way that AAA studio's can stay on budget and on time with current titles. For housing as an example an artist would make essentially building block portions of a house which a computer algorithm can take to make numerous permutations and combinations of to make a 1000 different houses of a few dozen models instead of an artist making a 1000 different houses.

What about dropping "yeah, but can it run Crysis" and replace it with "yeah, but can it run Flight Simulator 2020"?

Yes because it is made that way. My point is, that they tried to make the highest preset as taxing as possible and not as good looking as possible. The game looks not like some AAA title from the last few years imo.

First of all let me start by saying i have 0 proof of my theory below im just giving my opinion.
So after watching linus's video and a couple other ones im pretty sure the can it run crysis is 100% artificial, id put money that crytek is adding some extra background processes or purposefully doing inefficient rendering processes that artificially increase how much strain it puts on the computer. This might be bullshit, this might be correct and already known, idk im just giving my opinion on the subject. It would be interesting if someone who had more resources or cared more than i do look into this once it officially launches. Until then im just going to chalk it up to a meme.

I agree, the game looks not nearly as good as it should for being so taxing on the GPU. There is for sure some sort of artificial stuff going on to make it a "benchmark" for the next gens and years.

Pitou reacted to Kris3456 in CRT Gaming?
Still using CRT monitors as main screens. Have some of them like Sony 24' FW 900 and Dell P1230 21' with Mitsubishi tube or P1130 20' with Trinitron one. Working res are 1920x1200 95 Hz with Sony 24, and 1600x1200 100 Hz with Dell-s.
I use fresnel lens exactly like on this photo for gaming (i am not retro gamer). It makes screen visually like 32' with additional real depth effect. Looks like soft 3D. You can of course use it with LCD too.
With CRT you don't need ex. vertical sync becouse there is absolutly no tearing like on digital devices. So CRT is still alive and kickin in and with fresnel lens to make it bigger, there are not worse then other technologies. Just bulkier, heavy and taking 120 Watt.
Why I am still am using them ? Becouse my eyes can't stand staring into both CCFL and LED lights. With CRT or lamp projection with LCD (ex. Sony rear projection SXRD TV) I can watch 24 hours/day while after using "modern" techs my eyes are in pain, red and feel like sun burned. Even when using them with zero brightness ...

Pitou reacted to 2SidedPolygon in Mix and Match Ram
Yeah, also make sure they're using the same memory chip and have the same number of ranks though (The rank thing more so if they're running on a different channel, but still preferable to have it the same). The capacity also doesn't necessarily have to be the same but they probably won't need more than 16GB anyway.

Pitou got a reaction from Dissitesuxba11s in For people who want nice large mouse pad but dont want to spend a lot
ask around, private sales between you and a player are where you can also find some good stuff. Though buying from players is against most stores policies so be lowkey about them. Friday and Saturday evenings will be your best nights to catch people

Oh, that's awesome! I might check out my local card shop and see if they offer a similar deal.

5$-20$, ill edit it
but yeah man, i sell mats at 20$ but a lot of smaller card games pump out promo mats in large numbers and they pile us so i just sell them at 5$ each since i get them for free 90% of the time

Pitou reacted to suchamoneypit in AIO placement, and general cooling question
To answer your general question its perfectly fine to snip the ram shroud. I used literally a plain pair of scissors, and it cuts right through with force, I didn't notice any metal shavings. Ideally you would use metal snips or a wire cutter for probably less potential for small shavings. I sniped the metal to allow clearance of my radiator. And there is no way that small amount of metal being removed will equate to any performance loss from potential reduced cooling. I later upgraded to ryzen and got low profile RAM instead as I was forced to have to buy DDR4, so I didn't have to snip the metal (why ruin it if you dont have to).

Pitou reacted to FAQBytes in Unboxing Intel's PROTOTYPE GPU
@nicklmg @LinusTech
The issue you're having is a motherboard one, as it needs a compatible BIOS.
I don't remember directly without re-watching other videos which board you are using.
There are some ASUS LGA-2011 (/-3) compatible motherboards, and some ASRock ones with a special BIOS as well.

Pitou reacted to aeroencychris in 2x 480s vs 1070
I'm having this debate myself and honestly it's not easy. While in terms of raw benchmarks two 480's beat a 1070, the inevitable stability issues (and heat from two GPUs) makes it a bit of a headache to deal with. I'm considering doing the 480 route mostly because it gives me upgrading headroom, as I'm starting with one and adding another when I need it. If you're planning on buying everything now I would absolutely get the 1070, though.

In that case, a single 480 will be a really good choice. You'll save a ton of money and still have high frame rates at 1080p.
