So Vessel remembered that I'm supposed to have a free year and stopped asking me for my cc info. Beta testing ftw!

Linus and Vessel are like an abusive relationship that we can't step away from. I know I could just wait to watch it on yt, but I'm addicted to that sweet Linus video lovin' such that I keep coming back to Vessel to get the videos as soon as they come out.

@LinusTech mentioned on the wan show that he didn't think patreon would work so well because they have so many videos, but patreon also has a monthly subscription option (which I think would make more sense for LMG).  Like I mentioned before, a youtube channel that gets about 1/100 the views of LTT pulls in over $16,000/mo, which has been growing over the last 16 months ( https://www.youtube.com/user/acedtect/videos & https://www.patreon.com/acedtect )

I know Linus doesn't like to cede control too much and that no one wants to give up a cut of crowd funding money, which is why they use the forum subs, but sometimes it helps to rely on the infrastructure of partners to help you grow. There's a reason so many groups come up with massive crowdfunding programs through kickstarter and the like opposed to doing it themselves...

I really don't like how we watch the videos on vessel and then we can't come back to LTT.com to talk about them because the videos don't get discussion threads until they launch on yt.

Trying to watch the Channel Super Fun and I get this:

Then it asks for a credit card.

Vessel is supposed to be the "early access" content provider and now I have to provide a credit card for even earlier FREE access on Vessel?

Geldar got a reaction from Ertman in Australians may face 10% tax fee for steam sales.
This is the most over sensationalised news story ever. Their only extending the current GST (same as the VAT for Europeans) onto digital products like steam, itunes, google play, netflix etc etc.

Its definitely not a steam tax.

Point is they are still far better than living in the UK or US.  Having a read through the US social securities stuff, I'd hate to become disabled there, It looks like  you can't get a disability pension unless your disability is likely to kill you.

And this isn't even about adding new tax, it's just ensuring the new digital stores are charging the same taxes as the physical shop fronts already have to.

So basically the government wants to ensure all products that are supposed to have the GST are actually being charged the GST?

Tell me people, why should you have to pay GST for GTA V if you buy it from EB games, but not pay it if you buy it on steam?  IF you buy it from EB games you are providing at least one Australian with a job, you buy it on steam and your lining Gaben's pockets.

This is not some major money grab, it is simply balancing the GST so it is actually applied to all sales avenues, not just the ones that employ the most Aussies.

Also for anyone not educated enough about the state of the world, Australia is one of the best countries to be in, Free health care,  the worlds best consumer protection laws and agencies, very low crime rates,  I have yet to meet an unemployed person who didn't want to be (there is work for those looking). And our education system is actually close to one of the best (not necessarily in outcomes but certainly in accessibility and rigid curriculum).

Mean Aussie income before tax $57,980
mean US income before tax $52,250
Allowing for conversion rates there's not much of a difference.
