It might struggle a bit at 1080p, but an upgrade to an i5 or i7 should be fine.

Some will, some might not. You have to test yourself

They will appear in different names inside the BIOS (say an intake fan plugged in AIO pump header, it will show up under AIO pump in the BIOS), and some might not have a controlable fan curve in there at all and will run at full speed.
For much older stuff and OEM motherboards that is. Reasonably modern motherboards do not have thermistors directly wired to the controller of headers, but all route to the controller without hardcoded logic and rely on software control.

You can use 3 pin fans in a 4 pin connector. The 4th pin just won't be used.

I usually would pick Asus just because they hardly ever make a bad motherboard. They usually have some of the best bios and quality out their but it does come at a price premium. Imo it's worth it but if you are on a tight budget there are more affordable options from other brands.

Depends on what you're looking for at which price point.

IMO ASROCK is the most innovative and I like what they are doing.
Currently I own a Gigabyte board and while the HW is awesome, the BIOS sucks balls.

    Intel or AMD platforms?

Asus is good because the softwares are mature and works well, high end models also look good and subtle. It's bad because the stuff are expensive.

Gigabyte and MSI are both good because they are relatively affordable with flashy looks. They are bad because their software can sometimes screw up. In particular, MSI motherboards for AMD CPUs are worse than its competitors.

Asrock is good because it's affordable and performs well. It's bad because the looks are dull.

not one brand is specifically better than the other. it all depends on what motherboards you are choosing from. sure, some series have better VRMs and stuff, but if the feautureset suits your workload it doesn't really matter what brand it is.

No that will not work they still require the use of 3 pin addressable RGB LED's standard 4 pin RGB lights and components will not work on them.

The questions you need to ask yourself are:
    1- do I need RGB?
2- do I care who manufactures my motherboard/rest of the hardware?

if you prefer an Asus motherboard, you’re stuck with Asus software. If you want an MSI motherboard, then you’re going to have to use MSI software. You cannot use the software on hardware it’s not designed for. Rarely does anyone plan their build based on an RGB environment. The build quality and the other features the hardware brings matters more. You can always say run aura to control your motherboard, and NZXT Cam to control your NZXT AIO watercooler, but you won’t be able to synchronize them.

most of these pieces of software will work just fine. They’re essentially setup and forget.

For gaming? No, no you don't. The dual core with hyper threading performs perfectly well in games, especially if you're aiming for 60fps, which with a budget like that is more than likely.

I really wouldn't bother with 8th gen Intel i3s until there's chipsets other than Z370 available. Having the motherboard cost the same or more than the CPU isn't great in terms of performance for the price. Better off going for a better 7th gen CPU and cheaper board or wait for new chipsets.

I would really consider an SSD an essential component in everything but extreme budget builds now days. Just an entry level 120GB SSD would make a big difference to how fast the system feels.

PSU isn't very good. Corsair CX/M would be a better choice.
