kris44dad reacted to cacoe in Frame rates... how much is too much?
OP isn't looking at the question from the perspective of what is possible or what is acceptable, but what is the actual upper limit of human perception where we say "we could make higher refresh screens, but there's literally no point."

I don't know the answer, but I'd imagine it's even harder to answer than the question of resolution.

They have gotten away with it for such a long time. As long as there is no money incentive they won't do it.

What do you mean? NAS-boxes are not an enterprise-solution.

You must "drop" 100 Intel Xeon processors on the summoning circle in order for Linus to appear.

I just saw the opening of gamers Nexus NAS video. Computer cables in a pentagram, sacrificing computer chips, and Linus Sebastian shows up as a demon.

That's just funny right there. Although I'm pretty sure it wasn't really Linus, it didn't drop anything.

    Long time fan, but...

I have to say that I am rather disappointed in LMG's recent endorsement of the Ring surveillance system.  The potential abuses  of the subsidized giveaway by law enforcement [in America] are staggering, considered actual abuses perpetrated already without it. I hope LMG reconsiders their position.  This is endorsement money they could easily do without.

Basically every linux distro is like that these days.  This just isn't something you need to worry about. Journaling filesystems are good at dealing with issues like this, and every modern linux distro uses a journaling file system.

kris44dad got a reaction from kirashi in Cached data is becoming a hazard
As the related technologies are getting faster and cheaper, I think caching data is becoming more of a nuisance, then a performance benefit. In the mobile space, clearing the cache seems to solve app problems about 98% of the time. Speaking about Android, I'm not taking about  data space, although that can occasionally cause a problem, but the cache space.

If I were an app developer, I think the first thing I would do upon starting (or coming to the foreground...whatever), is to force a clear of all cache data just to avoid trouble tickets with my app. Desktop/laptop solutions have never had this issue on as large of a scale as the mobile apps do, as I remember.
