chiller15 reacted to iGPR3 in RTX 3080 FE - Performance Query
Scores look fine, your CPU is probably bringing it down. I would refrain from comparing your system to other identical systems. Small discrepancies like a 5% difference are down to either cooling or just the silicon lottery.
If you’re concerned about 100% fan speeds, which is awfully high, you could create a custom fan curve to keep it quieter, especially if it averages 45*C. My undervolted 6800 averages 74*C in games and the fans still don’t go anywhere near 100%.

The graphics scores is where it should be looking through results, its your CPU score that's bringing the overall score down.

chiller15 got a reaction from 191x7 in AMD Ryzen 9 7900X and MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI - EZ Debug CPU Light - Red
I've got the RAM in slots A and C, which are the traditional dual channel configurations. Using one stick or no sticks at all doesn't change the behaviour.
Both the CPU and RAM modules (CMK32GX5M2B5600C36) are listed as compatible products.
Update:
Using RAM slots A and B made it post after about 30-40 seconds.
Update 2: Checking the manual states the recommended RAM slots used as B/D for dual channel and B for single. Using slots B/D allowed for a sucessful boot.
Clearly this was a case of RTFM and my old knowledge of using slots A/C!
Edit: Thanks for the assist @191x7

chiller15 got a reaction from EphraimK in LTT Forum - Printing Backup Codes - Blank
Browser, version and OS: Chrome 101.0.4951.54 - Windows 10 21H2
Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?
Navigating my account settings and enabling backup codes for my account.
What happened?
Generated the backup codes, which showed in the box (and I can copy and paste). I pressed the print icon to print/save it as a PDF and the print preview shows no codes, just a blank page with the Home icon, LTT logo and menu button along the top of the page and the URL and page number at the bottom of the page. Saving the PDF and printing the document does not include the backup codes.
What did you expect to happen?
The PDF to contain the backup codes for saving elsewhere.
Link to a page where it happened, if applicable:
https://linustechtips.com/settings/account-security/?act=enable&type=backup_codes&new=1&csrfKey=
I have omitted the key from the URL.
Screenshots of the issue, if applicable:
Any other relevant details:
N/A
If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page? N/A

750watts isnt bad but I you play to sue it even more after 3rd gen then it might be a little low. and also have you seen the 12v new motherboard standers? you def need a new psu In a year or 2 if you want to upgrade

chiller15 reacted to Stahlmann in Have I bought too early? Corsair RM750x
I don't think the 3070 or 3080 will pull as much power as the 2080Ti did. And a nice 750W PSU like yours will easily handle every new GPU. In fact, even a good 550W or 650W unit would be enough.

chiller15 reacted to Haro in Have I bought too early? Corsair RM750x
We don't know what the power consumption for these cards will look like, but for the most part, i wouldn't expect a 750w unit to not be enough, it should be enough though again, we don't nor can we know.

I don't disagree with you, however not doing anything and blaming the parents isn't going to fix the problem either. However it will hopefully improve the overall negative impact that social media has on children.

chiller15 got a reaction from leadeater in Rebuilding a SAN for backups - iSCSI or CIFS/NFS?
Unfortunately we don't have a valid support contract with VEEAM, so I'll post on their forum in the morning and see what responses I get.

chiller15 reacted to leadeater in Rebuilding a SAN for backups - iSCSI or CIFS/NFS?
If you do switch over to iSCSI you can go with the current Veeam recommendation of using ReFS instead of NTFS, have a look at Veeams documentation on the benefits of using ReFS.

chiller15 reacted to Windows7ge in Rebuilding a SAN for backups - iSCSI or CIFS/NFS?
I'm not the best person to be answering your question so take what I say with a grain of salt but from my experience with both protocols they have pros & cons. iSCSI specifically I have experienced great performance with but at the same time I've had it mysteriously drop to a near halt and crawl painfully to the finish line. That could just be a hardware/software config issue on my part though.
SMB hasn't performed as well (peaks) but it's also never tanked as hard as iSCSI. At the same time though I have had SMB just give out mid transfer and had to restart when it left off. (Software like FreeFileSync or RSYNC make finding where it left off really easy)
If it was a lot of tiny files I'd go as far as to recommend SSH/SFTP. Although I have had sessions cut out it has been by far the most reliable protocol. Downside is it is by far the slowest. Not great for massive files on a 10Gbit network.
So long as a copy of the data will exist and you're not Cut/Paste-ing I'd say it doesn't really matter which method you use (if you can't connect all the drives to one server and copy RAID A's data to RAID B directly over SAS/SATA). Personally I'd use SMB and if it stops half-way though use FreeFileSync or RSYNC to find where it left off and continue the transfer.

Do you have the ability to support these systems, should something go wrong with them in say? Usually when someone buys a PC and it goes wrong - their first call is to the place where they bought it from.

The Balti, arguably one of the most famous curry dishes, is credited at being invented in Birmingham. So that's one exotic holiday you have planned in Buuuur-min-gum.
P.s, I voted labour and always will. I grew up in an ex-mining town in Merseyside, so you can guess my views on the conservatives.

You don't think we've had our fair share of monstrosities over the years? Let us not forget that we, the British, have killed a hell of a lot more people over the past 2000 years than anyone else.
Being part of the EU provides far more benefits than being out of it. We have a useless government throwing money away hand over fist to act on their misguided promise, regardless of how things change.
I also hate those arguements about leaving the EU due to immigration. That's a problem created by the UK, not the EU. The problem will still persist, even when we leave the EU.
Yes, this Article 13 business sucks and I am opposed to it, however it is just more ammunition for leavers to use to justify their often (not aimed at you) racially motivated points of view.
Also, we didn't have much of a say in GDPR, however that was welcomed because it is actually a good EU law. It reminds me of that saying 'when the shoe fits'.
