There has been extensive testing. We wouldn't put this out on the market if we weren't confident in its reliability.

1500W is a bit excessive. Even with dual GTX 980 Ti's and your i7-5390K (or i7-5960X) water-cooling and overclocked, you only really need a 850W~950W unit. You can, theoretically power a full system with 4+ GTX 980 Ti's with a 1500W unit.

The kicker here, you pay a price premium for a large power output PSU -- especially for something that is 1500W. The PSU itself, will be in the range of roughly $300 ~ $500. The extra cost is unnecessary. The extra cost is then transferred over to the consumer / buyer, which is YOU.

As many have mentioned, 'Alienware' do have their advantages and disadvantages.
The good is that you get their full customer support, and the system if fully built for you. All the software is set up, and ready to go. Essentially hassle-free.
The down side is that you are charged a fairly heavy price premium for the DELL / Alienware branding. The specially modified / custom motherboards, and other computer components, that they tend to use in their system can be an issue for the consumer. If you were in need of a motherboard replacement, you won't be able to simply buy a replacement board and swap it in. You will need to either have 'Alienware' replace the whole system, or purchase a WHOLE new computer.

My personal suggestion would be, if you cannot or do not want to build your own system, is to look at other alternatives to 'Alienware.'
There are lots of alternatives that you may look into for a customized, power-house system -- like that one you are proposing.
Digital Storm Puget Systems Origin PC (created by some of the former staffs of the original 'Alienware', before 'DELL' purchased them) Maingear Falcon Northest My personal choice, if I didn't build my own PC's, would be Digital Storm.
